Middle School Teachers' Attitudes towards the Role of Distance Learning Using Modern Technologies in Enhancing Students' Academic Achievement: A Field Study on a Sample of Middle School Teachers in El Oued Province, Algeria

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the attitudes of middle school teachers towards the role of distance learning using modern technologies in enhancing students' academic achievement in El Oued Province, Algeria. It was conducted on a sample of 130 middle school teachers selected through simple random sampling. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and utilized mean, standard deviation, and correlation coefficient as statistical methods to test the study hypotheses. The study findings revealed that the attitudes of middle school teachers towards the role of distance learning using modern technologies in enhancing academic achievement in El Oued Province, Algeria were low.

mee educa ional needs, enhance in e ac ion be ween s uden s and eache s, and consequen ly con ibu e o

pandemic had a signi ican impac on i s in eg a ion in o he educa ional sec o , pa icula ly in he middle school
le el, whe e i elies hea ily on mode n echnology-based app oaches. The Alge ian educa ional en i onmen
aces challenges in accommoda ing echnology and ICT (In o ma ion and Communica ion Technology)
esou ces, along wi h a lack o aining wo kshops o bo h eache s and s uden s on emo e lea ning
echnologies. These p og ams equi e subs an ial expenses, a he y budge , and in ensi e e o s.
On he o he hand, he p esence o an in e ac i e emo e lea ning en i onmen would con ibu e o inc easing
academic achie emen . The ole o dis ance lea ning lies in enhancing academic achie emen by p omo ing
s uden s' sel -di ec ed lea ning, p o iding a ious ac i i ies ailo ed o s uden s' lea ning s yles, encou aging
di e se hinking me hods du ing s udy, acili a ing he acquisi ion o skills, knowledge, and a i udes, and
o e ing mul iple ways o in e ac ion and knowledge exchange h ough emo e lea ning.

Dis ance lea ning using mode n echnologies plays a ole in inc easing academic achie emen , p o ided ha a
conduci e educa ional en i onmen is es ablished o acili a e e ec i e communica ion and in e ac ion be ween
eache s and lea ne s. This en i onmen should enable lea ne s o comp ehend and unde s and in o ma ion
e icien ly, he eby enhancing hei compe encies and achie ing excellen academic esul s.
