LITHUANIAN LOGO WORLD for the Ne longest time with pleasure su read computer specialists V. Dagienė's book “Journey to the į country of computers” [1]. Today we can enjoy a new with her co-authors su T. Balvočiene ir A. A book written by Klupšaite The Logo Help (V., 1966. 248 p.). It is recommended by the Ministry of Education ir and Science issued ir Open Funded by the Lithuanian Foundation. Logo, as indicated in the preamble, is a pedagogical ir philosophy, a programming ir language. The author of this speech — worldwide known American mo scientist S. Papert's — goal was to create a computer system that would be attractive to children, stimulate the desire ir to learn, experience, learn as much as possible, and most importantlo y, to meet creative inclinations. The book discusses jų IMB Personal Computers ‘Logo Writer” system commands. The book is intended for secondary school teachers, students and all children interested in mystery The world of logos. The book consists of three parts. The first part briefly introduces the main ma su Logo language concepts. The second part discusses all the teams. They are divided into five groups according to the similarity of the actions į performed: sheets, 1) graphics, 2) text, 3) programmin4) g, computer. The third 5) part of the book is a collection of supplement- — s. 14 Here is a ir short ‘Logo Description of the Writer commands, including sheet, graphics, text, programming, computer, ir bo su mouse description, ir key description, ir Logo Writer system messaging, communication ir su DOS: directories and files, colors, sounds, ir frequencies, code tables, even computer and ir ‘Logo Writer System Terms Glossary. At the end of the book, the recommended literature is listed. ir This shows that the book is written deliberately rather ir methodically. Ją not boring to read. Children can give the main character of the book Turtle a variety of different commands that he has to perform, for example: imkkaukė įprkaukės (ordinary masks) keiskfoną keiskmakes, keisksiasmakes keisksp 30, 58, 83, 58, (change color) let 84, change 55, drawing 28, text in clear (clear command field) 51, Zenklaspo 86 ir t.t. The spelling of the 89
names of these teams is also questionable. However, on the other hand, as the authors point out, “Turtle’s words are somewhat peculiar: everything that consists of letters and numbers, and even other signs, is considered a word” (32). So the simple, even slightly childish style of the book helps to create the image of a conversation with Turtle. And what is the language of this conversation? In general, oral conversational language is clear, fluent and correct. Here is another example. “The turtle has a brush, drawing or drawing lines, coloring figures. The brush is under Turtle's belly, in the middle. Sometimes we want Turtle to draw while moving, and sometimes we don’t want him to. This requires that he knows how to raise and lower the brush. The eisim command defines the future state of the Turtle: it will only need to walk, not draw, so the brush must be raised. So after this command Turtle will move without drawing or coloring until we change the state. The turtle is able to paint or color only when its brush is lowered. The preseim command sets the Turtle’s state: “We will continue drawing, so we have to lower the brush” (70—71). “At first, the Turtle looks upwards — to the north. But here we ordered to turn one way, to the other way — and it is no longer clear in which direction our Turtle is looking now… We can ask — direction, and we will get a number that will express the angle between the initial position of the Turtle (O degrees when looking north) and the current one” (77). There are many mathematical and computer terms in the book. To help students memorize these terms, they are printed in a different font. Most of them are regular, e.g.: envelope directory 210, enter key 168, variable 38, real numbers, integers, negative numbers, positive numbers 31, subdirectory 184, printer 168, target disk 183, target directory 184, etc. However, one other term or vocabulary item can also be questioned. The authors suggest that a special sheet containing the necessary information be called a memo (31). It is more accurate to call such a sheet a memo. This word is used in this sense in our language [2]. Therefore, it is quite natural that computer specialists try to limit it and propose to use the term memory instead, when talking about a computer device for receiving data, storing it, in other words, about a device capable of remembering.
ir The term by/a has been widely discussed and is (100) still being discussed by ir computer specialists ma [3]. About jį already ne once was written spoken of ir linguists [4]. Apparently, however, the most appropriate Lithuanian fžriatitikmuJo mas would be rinkmena. Computer-generated iš images, computer-generated text, and computer-generated images (9) ir e-mail came into force the term e-mail. The text of the book (written in semi-bold ir underlined italic italic) has a cover —title (= secondary) page, contents and ti many pages <...> (= 171; 15; Air B — floppy disks floppy disk) (= drive book183, o je "Journey to į the Land of Computers" says that "sometimes also called" floppy disk "not necessabe ry — ir so clear that it is flexible, magnetic" it has its own (50); (=savajj, own) content, it can create new pages 227, cf. also own resonance, rus. 1995. pp. 3. What is the vertical line horizontal line specific 32, action if you can say 20, vertical line, horizontal 225, line, specific action)? One other word has a non-useful meaning, e.g.: any kind of not. — r. „everyone, everybody“: Variable name can be any (=every) VeZliuk language word... 39; Leaf robbers da may make any iš (=all) letters of the Latin alphabet... 49; any— can't. r. ‘each’ means: Before a sheet name, just like before any ir (=kiekvieng) each other's name written in double quotes 49; ...it can be moved on any (=every) button 210; given — cannot. r. ‘this’ means: ... r. “be” means: ...instead of the name stovi (=there are) three question marks 48; not at the same — time. r. „drauge, kopā“:...is introduced to su the basics Languages of the logo (at the same time) (=card) ir ‘Logo Writer) concepts 11; Logo language (at the same time) (=card) ir ‘Logo Writer system) based on the Turtle ... image 17. Verbs to keep, prepare would be better replaced with verbs to keep, (to) prepare, e.g.:... should choose meaningful names, reminiscent of you stored (=stored) data 39; Turtle all the data presented to it stores (=stores) in certain tiny boxes 38; All the specified Turtles prepare (=prepare) to execute further commands to do, if we want to prepare (=prepare) to print the list with the computer 17; O ką ir <...> 169 ir Mr. The normal and usual forms of the verb are divided, jmenovat. They should be ir used, e.g.: best to name the sheet to name) (= yes ..49; The turtle, before taking a new leaf, always asks to name (=name) the previous one and will remember it <...> 9, cf. also terms Dbulvinė, but not potato storage TT 93 [6], water pool, water reservoir; pond, but water reservoir laws, drafting orders, but not laws, drafting orders TT 91, training ne specialists, but TT 93; training specialists ne TT 91. How unusual looks the word combination to su work with a sheet, for ją example: he sees ir Zino (=jsimena) only when working with that sheet su ... 60; These two commands are valid only for the sheet we su are working 55, on. but 25, 36, 55 193 p. Wouldn’t the following word combination be more accurate: /apas, in which we draw we write, even ar though the authors themselvir es tend to think so, for example, we have only one <...> sheet in which we drawme ir write 21. There is one more grammatical error, which is a ar manifestation of an otherwise disorderly style, e.g. : <...> If made <...> active some Turtles (= certain Turtles active), then they will remain ir such <... > 82: <...>for example, if we want į “Logo Load text created in any text editor into a Writer sheet (=a specific text editor) <...> 225; The page we want to remember must have a name that we have to give it (=we give it) 21. 92
Despite these inaccuracies, the help is interesting to read And, apparently, one should agree with the authors' opinion that children will be able to realize their jį creativity, fantasy, unexpected ideas on the computer.
