TERMINOLOGY – AN AUTONOMOUS DISCIPLINE? Apa om being an enginee Wüs e was e y well in o med on he linguis ics o his ime, which is e lec ed in se e al o his wo ks. On he o he hand he ecognised e y well ha e minology is no a me e lin- guis ic discipline; in any case such as linguis ics we e de ined in he 1960s and 70s. Acco ding o his iewpoin e minology may be conside ed a linguis ic discipline, howe e , wi hin a widened and lexible amewo k o he discipline ‘lin- guis ics’. Tha means: e minology is an au onomous, bu no comple ely independen discipline o mode n linguis ics. Today, he ques ion o au onomy, which caused much discussion, seems o be less salien .
