The dictionary explains the main phonological terms, collected primarily from A. Girdenis’s book Theoretical foundations of Lithuanian phonology (2003), as well as from other Lithuanian and foreign authors’ works on phonology of common language and dialects, dictionaries of linguistics and phonology. The publication is intended for Lithuanian students, lecturers, linguists, teachers and pupils, who come into contact with phonological terminology. The terms explained in the glossary are divided according to the following topics: general subjects of phonology, types and functions of phonological elements, identification of phonological elements, functional classes of phonemes, structure of phonological syllable, supersegmental elements. Within the topics, the terms are sorted alphabetically. After each topic, there are tasks to strengthen the concept of phonology terms and theory subjects. It explains the origin of some international terms or their elements. Lithuanian terms are interspersed. At the end there is an alphabetical index of Lithuanian terms and a list of Russian and English equivalents of more important terms. The translation dictionary is published on the website of the Lithuanian Psychoanalytic Society. It presents the most important, most commonly used terms, collected from various sources. It was based on previously published Lithuanian translation dictionaries – T. Auchter and L. V. Strauss’s Dictionary of Psychoanalytic Terms (2003) and S. Fhanér’s Dictionary of Psychoanalysis (2005). The dictionary was based on J. Laplanche and J.-B. Pontalis Glossary.TheVocabularyof Psychoanalysis (1997). This constantly updated glossary is available on the website of the European Psychoanalytic Federation (EPF). As noted in the introduction, the publication aimed to systemize the translation experience of several decades and standardize Lithuanian psychoanalytic terminology. The publication consists of 101 articles prepared by a large collective of authors from various Lithuanian research institutes and universities, explaining the concepts of ethnology and anthropology, revealing the identity traits of Lithuanian and Lithuanian ethnic minorities. At the end of each article there is a bibliography. There is a separate section of biographies, where thirty-six biographies of researchers with bibliographical data are presented. Articles are listed in alphabetical order. At the end are inserted personal names and subject arrow. The encyclopedia is intended for employees of scientific, cultural and educational institutions, students of higher education institutions. The publication was prepared under the project National Identity: Comparative Perspectives of Local Communities in Globalization, funded by the Lithuanian Science Council.
