The article discusses the situation of the Lithuanian language in a rapidly changing, modernizing world of more than 7 billion people, drawing attention to the fact that Lithuanian is a non-commercial language and is spoken by only a few million people. Proposals are made on what we need to do to ensure that the written and spoken Lithuanian language will live securely and firmly in the future, both in paper documents and in electronic media. Situation People communicate face-to-face and/or via the Internet in different languages, using different scripts: Latin, Arabic, Cyrillic, hieroglyphs and other language scripts. It is significant that the community of people is supplemented by rapidly spreading smart machines – robots, cars, smart objects, with which we will talk while working. The European Parliament also emphasizes the importance of language equality in its latest 2017 study (see Language equity in the digital age2017.1-165). The question arises: how should we, the few millions of Lithuanians whose language is non-commercial, act so that we do not disappear in the ocean of more than 7 billion writing and speaking people and the coming smart machines. Concept We must achieve that in paper documents and electronic media, the written Lithuanian language is written with the characters of the Lithuanian alphabet, and the spoken language sounds are presented with the correct spoken Lithuanian language sounds.
