LITHUANIAN ONOMASTICS INVESTIGATIONS LITHUANIAN KALBOTYROS QUESTIONS, XXI (1981) MARYTĖ RAZMUKAITĖ PROMESSES ACTIVITIES LITHUANIA TSR RESIDENTIAL PLACES NAME IŠ HYDRONIMS A large part of the subordinate work Lietuvos Names of places of residence in the TSR (oikonimų) are the derivatives of other place names iš hydronyms and other — oikonims. The article is limited to hydronymous names of residential places, the oikonymous ones are left for another occasion. The overview begins with the names of hydronymic origin of residential ne places only because of jų the abundance of the ir variety of constructiir on suffixes, but because the ir Lietuvos TSR hydronyms are only the ne most investigated, but officially available to ir all, and at the same time the oldest layer of our o nomenclaturir e. More Lietuvos TSR oikonimai, not to mention individual articles in the press about the ng place name or suffix? not constructively examined. Therefore, in this article, using the officially now existing sarasa® of residential place names, we want to review all possible cases of hydronyms of oikonyms of prepositional construction, to indicate the prevalence of prepositions iš that are more commonly found here. A more general ir picture of the hydronyiš ms of afixive-non-afixive oikonyms has been provided by J. Balčikonis in the article "Names of residential places of iš lakes rivers ir names". In this list of hydronyms of various origins, there are few prepositional derivatives — 85 place names made of su suffixes: 1) -oitis (-aitė), 2) -ėnai, 3) -iečiai, 4) -ijai, -inė 5) (-iniai), 6) -ininkas, -ininkai (-inyk-), T) -iškis, -iškiai, -iškė, 8) -onys, 9) -(y)tis, -(u)tys, 10) -ūnai. The most abundant group of oikonymies here was made up of the -ēnai Vedic suffixes (35 examples). In the list of Vedas below — 27 suffixes (without į šį subtracting the number of both ir ending variants of the number of į a, b, c subgroups). The material we collected also shows that productivity is distinguished by the suffix -ene (84 examples), comprising about all 30%, the derivatives provided here. Į šį the list of place names, almost all oikonimy of 260 the adverbial action ir iš 1 Plg. Lietuvos The Lakes of the ir TSR. — V., 1963; Vanagas A. Balčikonis article, except for du village names — Veréduvdité® (Rs) ir Aritupyčiai’ (Btg), whose interpretation of the act has raised doubts. Veréduvdité is probably a deminutive derivative of the name of the nearby village Veréduva (Rs), since the name of the river Veréduva is unknown from the current data. The name of the village Aritupyčiai, it seems, is not a suffix -yčiai derivative of the here not recorded hydronym *Antupis or similar, a prefix derivative of the name of the river that flows through the village, o iš šį Upytė. Doubts about the one ar or the other action ir are raised by some other J. In Balčikonis' article, the place names are — presented with notes jų on the pronunciation in the footnotes. | Since the name of a place of residence can be associated with one or another hydronym only when the settlement is located near the river or lake of that name, the examples of hydronyms presented in the article are localized by indicating the abbreviation of the nearest larger settlement (abbreviations of places of residence names, except for ir Ck — Ceikiniai (Ignalinos r.), Lithuania Cb — Čidbiškis (Širvintų r.), Kdl — Kiduliai (Šakių r.), Mdz — Modžiūnai (Vilnius r.), Pin — Piniava (Panevėžio r.), Plkn — Paluknės (Trakai r.) ir Ršk — Reškutėnai (Spring, see below.) p. 146— 149). In this case, the ir jų adjective derivatives are presented in alphabetical order, because a different presentation, for example, according to the number of derivatives, would not be of greater importance, since the prepositions are distributed more or less areally. ar 1. - Sheep. However, the material presented here also allows to form a more general picture of the place names of this group. Of course, without having before our eyes all the prefixes with which oikonimi are made from other Words, for example, from personal names, other oikonimi, adjectives, it is difficult now to say which of these prefixes are specific, used only in the formation of names of places of residence from hydronyms. It seems that the most typical here will be the patronymic type suffixes -aičiai, -ėnai, -onys, -ininkai, -ninkai, forming plural forms of oikonimai. Some of these suffixes, such as -aičiai, -ėnai, -onys, are very close in their meaning to personal nouns, and therefore the names of places of residence, as a collective concept, with this type of suffixes have plural endings. The adverb itself, its one or other form, as well as the means of creation in general, is often presupposed by the object with which the name of the place of residence is associated, so that in the derivatives of individual groups (hydronymous, oikonymous, appellative) different types of adverbs may prevail. In Vedic hydronyms, patronymic type suffixes are probably the most popular and will be, which, it seems, cannot be said about other oikonimes of prepositional construction derived from other oikonimes or personal names, because other relationships between name and object (deminutive, dependency, etc.) determine the other predominant type of prepositions. If we look at the distribution of more productive derivative suffixes from hydronyms in Lithuania, we will see that some of them form quite clear ranges. * For example, the name of the city Įsrutis || Isrutys (now Cerniachovskas, Kaliningrad region), given by J. Balčikonis to the adverbial derivatives, may be i. non-adverbial, but taken simply from the name of the same river [there is a more common neighboring gender Įsrutis || Įsrutys. 204 pa ir su dialect areas. For example, the most productive suffix -énail® spread throughout Lithuania, but in the region of Žemaitija, except the southern (dūnininkų) edge, it, perhaps, is the only ma hydronym in oikonimos. The suffix -onys'® is iš more common in eastern Highlanders (approx. Anykščiai, Kavarskas, Mustūnai) of the ir eastern and southeastern area of Dzūkija (approx. Daugėliškį, Pabradę, Švenčionėlius, Švenčionis, Adutiškį, Trakus) vietovardžiuose. The adverbs -ininkai, -ninkai have no clearer boundaries of distribution. Perhaps somewhat more prominent road — surfaces in the territory of jų the Žemaitija mud miners and the southern border (approx. Skaudvilė, Žygaičiai, Tauragė, Pagėgiai) in the ir southeastern part of Lithuania (about Žiežmaris, Vievis, Stakliškes, Trakai, Onušis, Butrimonis, Simna, Udrija, Leipalingis, Merkinė, Šalčininkuose). Other side effects of this drug (personal, patronymic) type suffixes, between jų ir -aiciail®, not very productive, only have one another a po few derivatives. ar Adverbs su -isk-, which are productive, are ir only typical of oikonymes made of ne hydronyms, but are common in the derivatives of other nouns, iš especially personal names! !. ir iš Interestingly, the prevalence of both gender and number forms in Vedic hydronyms with these suffixes is also relatively arealic. For iš example, su -iškės are widespread in the northeastern (approx. Zarasai, Degučiai, Utena), in the southeast (approx. Dubingius, Maišiagala, Vilnius), in the south (approx. Birštonas, Kapsukas) in Lithuania; -excludi- — ng eastern Dzūki (approx. Smalvas, Ceikinius) ir Žemaitijos mudmenų jų ir paribio (about Šaukėnai, Kražiai, Šilalė, Šiluva) plots; -most clearly concentrated in the western highlands area at Nemuno ir in Užnemunė; -is known — in various places of eastern Highlands. A completely different type of suffix is -ava, -inė, -ynė, found only in Vedic hydronyms. ne Being group or place-specifiiš c? ?, these suffixes form only singular forms of oikonymia. Jų Vedic iš hydronyms are not many, so there are ir no noticeable distribution areas here. CONCLUSIONS 1. Lietuvos In the SSR, the production iš of hydronyms in the form of prepositions (27 groups of prepositions). 2. In the adverbial iš derivatives of hydronyms, there are two types of adverbs: a) personal (patronym) and (b) local or squad values. 3. more characteristic in the formation of hydronyms oikonimi are suffixes of personal type, forming the forms of the vedic plural; The most productive and dominant suffix of this type is -ėnai, which is widespread almost throughout Lithuania. 4. More or less pronounced areas of spread of more characteristic suffixes are formed. 10 It is assumed that the distribution areas of -aičiai, -ėnai, -onys in oikonimų derivatives should coincide with the distribution areas of asmenvardžių suffixes -aitis, -ėnas, -onis. This is partly already seen in the 17th-century proliferation of personal name suffixes. —Plg. Maciejauskienė V.
