The objec o his a icle is he names o 29 people wi h men al diso de s used in he guide
w i en by he amous Li huanian psychia is Juozo Blazio (1890-1939) in his in oduc ion o
psychia y (1935). Acco ding o he classicis o Li huanian e minology Kazimie z Gai enis, he

membe o i s own language's lexical sys em. The e m "bo owed" is also adop ed in o he
na ional language because i is embedded in o he (a leas se e al) na ional languages and
ma ks he concep s o science, echnology, a , socie y and o he sphe es o li e, which
indica es ha such a e m is impo an o scien i ic communica ion (see G inio 1993: 157, 162
[…] 164; Gai enis, Keynes 1990: 207).
The in e na ionaliza ion o e ms helps o acili a e he in e na ional communica ion o
specialis s. In e na ionalism ends o conside e ms ha a e iden ical o close in o m and
con en in a leas h ee languages. The classical language played a special ole in he o ma ion
o he scien i ic e m. The seman ics o he oo s and a ixes o hese languages a e

hei meaning is known o schola s in a pa icula ield. Te ms composed o such elemen s a e

c ea i e possibili ies (Danilenko 1977: 33, 35; G inio 1993: 169 […] 170). Thus, he elemen s o G eek

(Supe anskaya e al. 1989: 104). G eek and La in elemen s bo owed om na ional languages a e
adap ed only aguely, mos ly phone ically. The i s mo phological s uc u e o such an elemen
is unclea in he na ional language, and i is accep ed in i s en i e y wi hou any mo phological
b eakdown.

G eek and La in wo ds and mo phemes. In u n, he e ms hemsel es, wi h oo s and
a ixes o G eek o La in o igin, also become in e na ional e ms (Danilenko 1977: 33; o
mo e on he basis o he c ea ion o e ms o G eek and La in elemen s, see
Supe anskaja and k . 2003: 204 […]212).

language, bu in he wo ds o o he languages (mos ly La in o La inized) ( hei s ems), a special
wo d-making may be dis inguished on he basis o a s ange " (Ma chand, ci .

In ecen linguis ic s udies, i is common o conside as co ela i e e bs such bo owings

manual, as al eady men ioned, a e bo owed om o he language sou ces on which he elied when

Vik o as Vaičiūnas (1896-1945) was a Li huanian physician, psychia is and neu opa hologis (VLEe).
