Strategic Approaches to Employee Retention: An Analytical Study in Human Resource Management

Havalappagol, Vishwanath R; P. Chitrashree

Abstract

Employee retention has emerged as a critical priority for organizations navigating an era of rapid globalization, technological disruption, and workforce mobility. This study explores strategic approaches to employee retention within the domain of human resource management, drawing upon a comprehensive synthesis of secondary data and scholarly perspectives. The analysis reveals that effective retention strategies extend beyond monetary incentives, encompassing career development initiatives, work–life balance programs, recognition systems, and leadership support. These strategies not only mitigate turnover but also enhance employee satisfaction, organizational productivity, and long-term competitiveness. Furthermore, the findings underscore the necessity of adopting integrated and context-specific frameworks that respond to shifting workforce expectations in a dynamic business environment. By situating retention as a strategic imperative rather than a reactive measure, this paper provides meaningful insights for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers seeking to strengthen organizational resilience through human capital management.
