INTRODUCTION The urge to better prepare students for the complexity of the 21st century is driving a major revolution in education today. There is a growing perception that traditional passive learning approaches, in which students are only information consumers, are insufficient. In response, active learning strategies — which put students at the center of the learning process — are becoming more and more popular among educators and academics. A deeper and more meaningful grasp of the subject matter is fostered by active learning, which places an emphasis on involvement, participation, and interaction. Active learning is not a new concept; its roots can be traced back to the early 20th century with educational theorists like John Dewey, who championed experiential education. Dewey believed that education should be about more than just the acquisition of knowledge; it should also be about the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills through active engagement with the world. Engaging students in the learning process through active learning is an effective teaching strategy that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. An engaging and dynamic atmosphere is created through active learning, which improves students' entire learning process and encourages student participation. Students are more likely to remember material and get a

In practice, active learning can take many forms, from group projects and peer teaching to problem-based learning (PBL) and experiential activities like internships and fieldwork. The diversity of these strategies allows educators to tailor their approach to the specific needs and contexts of their students, making learning more relevant and impactful. DISCUSSION Active learning techniques have brought about a dramatic change in the way that education is conducted, thus it is important to carefully consider both their advantages and disadvantages. Active learning techniques have been demonstrated in numerous research to significantly enhance student outcomes. Students that actively participate in their education are better able to remember material, hone critical thinking abilities, and apply what they have learned to realworld situations. Through strategies like problem-based learning, experiential learning, and collaborative learning — all of which encourage students to take ownership of their learning — this engagement is attained. A few major categories of active learning methodologies are listed below: Group projects for collaborative learning: Students collaborate in small groups to do assignments, figure out issues, or make presentations. This encourages cooperation, effective communication, and the capacity to collaborate with others to achieve a common objective. Peer instruction and evaluation: Students alternately instruct one another on ideas or subjects. This can help all group members by offering diverse viewpoints and explanations in addition to reaffirming the teacher's understanding. Case studies for problem-based learning: Students are given real-world scenarios and are required to collaborate in order to assess the circumstances, pinpoint issues, and suggest fixes. This approach fosters critical thinking, analytical abilities, and the capacity to translate abstract concepts into real-world contexts. Inquiry-Based Learning: Students investigate areas of interest, pose questions, and carry out research. Curiosity, independent thought, and the capacity to gather and combine knowledge from a variety of sources are all encouraged by this method. Mock Trials and discussions: Students participate in organized discussions or role-playing of actual processes. This approach improves one's capacity for quick thinking, public speaking abilities, and comprehension of difficult subjects. Gamification is the process of introducing game features like leaderboards, badges, and points — into educational tasks in order to boost interest and motivation. Gamification has the potential to increase student engagement by making learning more competitive and fun.

Teachers can create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters deep comprehension and skill development by combining a range of these strategies. With a number of new trends ready to significantly alter educational environments, the future of active learning seems bright. These trends take advantage of new developments in technology, creative teaching strategies, and an increasing awareness of the need for skills beyond traditional academic knowledge. It is anticipated that active learning will progress in the following major directions. By evaluating student data to pinpoint learning gaps and customize information to meet individual needs, artificial intelligence (AI) can offer personalized learning experiences. Sophisticated adaptive learning platforms are evolving to modify task difficulty according to student performance. More elements of game design are expected to be used into educational contexts. Gamification can increase student motivation and engagement, even though game-based learning environments offer experience learning through entertaining and engaging activities. Tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, and specialized learning environments like Edmodo and Schoology enable real-time student cooperation regardless of the students' geographical locations. Group projects, peer assessments, and cooperative problem solving are all made easier by these platforms. These developments hold the potential to improve learning in terms of effectiveness, relevance to contemporary demands, and engagement. Teachers may design dynamic learning environments that not only teach knowledge but also set students up for success throughout their lives by keeping up with these advances. CONCLUSION As a dynamic and captivating substitute for conventional teaching techniques, active learning practices are at the forefront of the educational revolution. Active learning creates a richer and more fulfilling educational experience by boosting student participation, critical thinking, and the practical application of knowledge. A bright future for education is predicted by the incorporation of cutting-edge technology, the growth of blended and hybrid learning methods, and a renewed emphasis on the acquisition of transdisciplinary knowledge and soft skills.
