As open as possible, as closed as necessary: What does this mean in practice?

Abstract

"As open as possible, as closed as necessary" has been adopted as policy by research institutions, funders, governments and publishers internationally, but there is often a lack of guidance for individual researchers about how to implement it in their research. This talk looks at some of the challenges and provides tips for putting the mantra into practice.
