This article covers the role of English in the world community, the influence of the modern approach to teaching English on the course process and the peculiarities of pedagogical skill. Keywords: modern approach, foreign language, international experience, lesson effectiveness, quality of Education. XXI century-the century of advanced technologies. Therefore, the effective use of new technologies in the education system is a requirement of the time. Widespread globalization and constant international cooperation of many countries in many fields have led to the emergence of an open language space. English has become a kind of lingva franca in business, science and technology. As a result, the need for fast and effective learning of the English language has increased dramatically. Especially in learning a foreign language, the benefits of this are very great. Because by learning a language, a person learns the culture and Society of an entire nation at the same time. A person feels the culture of language users faster through sight, hearing. That is, it will become easier for him to join the ranks of those who also speak the same language. What trends existed in English language teaching at the end of the XX and the beginning of the XXI century? Without pretending to fully disclose the topic, we will consider and compare only some methods of teaching English: audio-linguistic, structural and communicative, as well as make a small comparison of these methods. The audio-linguistic method appeared in the 1970s. Together with him, language courses and language classrooms appeared, in which according to the proposed model, mechanical replacements were made in the structure of the proposal. The classes were monotonous, and there was practically no feedback. Proponents of the audio-linguistic method believed that it was necessary to memorize grammatical and phraseological structures of the language by repeatedly SCIENTIFIC AND THEORETICAL CONFERENCE “DECORATIVE AND APPLIED ART OF THE TURKIC WORLD: HISTORY, MODERNITY, AND FUTURE PROSPECTS”, OCTOBER 23, 2025 164 repeating them in readymade educational dialogues, and then at the right moment they could be used automatically. However, the experience of many shows that in a real situation, a person, as a rule, cannot timely and appropriately use a phrase or phrase he once learned. Students were taught mainly language forms, but they were not taught the communicative use of these forms. The lack of feedback skill formation led to failures, and often the inability to communicate in a foreign language. Of course, all this caused confusion both among the students themselves, who had spent so much time and effort learning the language, and among the teachers, who were gradually becoming disillusioned with this method as the only correct one. The structural approach to teaching a foreign language is based on the provisions of structural linguistics and the behavioral direction in psychology. Learning in accordance with this approach involves mastering a number of grammatical structures (structures), which are arranged in a certain sequence depending on the difficulty of their assimilation. Critics of the structural approach rightly point out that, some students who know grammar rules well enough and are able to compose separate grammatically correct phrases are not able to use their knowledge in the process of live communication, just as when using the previously mentioned audiolinguistic method. In fact, experts on the methodology point out, these facts are proof of the ineffectiveness of any one method of teaching English. The structural approach is very effective at the initial stages of learning, as it helps to quickly and effectively master the basic speech structures of the language being studied. But when a certain level is reached, it becomes a barrier to the further progress of students who cannot cross the threshold between linguistic competence and the practical implementation of speech skills. Therefore, it seems important at the moment when this approach loses its effectiveness to move away from it and continue learning the language with an accent on the use of language in the process of speech, paying more attention to the formation of speaking skills, that is, using a communicative approach. The communicative approach in teaching a foreign language first emerged in the 70s as a result of the work of experts from the Council of Europe. Since that time, this approach has become widespread all over the world and has become one of the main methods of teaching foreign languages. It is necessary to offer students communication-oriented exercises in a timely manner instead of individual exercises for practicing grammatical skills. The lack of a broad context forces students to consider these individual phrases only as illustrations of a particular grammatical phenomenon, depriving such tasks of any communicative value. A prerequisite for success in achieving communication goals is the existence of a broader context. No one will deny the importance of grammar and vocabulary in learning a language, but it is important to combine these exercises with reading a text, listening to a dialogue or watching a fragment of a TV program. What attracted us, English teachers, is the technology of "developing critical thinking through reading and writing": with the fact that it allows you to teach any teacher with quality; with a large number of effective methods of training and organization. It is known that there are about a hundred strategies in this program. By mastering these methods and choosing the necessary ones, you have the opportunity to effectively and optimally implement the goals of each lesson. However, there are a number of problems on the way to informatization of society, the solution of which is an urgent issue in the education system. The main problems of integrating the Internet into the educational process, including as problems of technical security, are the SCIENTIFIC AND THEORETICAL CONFERENCE “DECORATIVE AND APPLIED ART OF THE TURKIC WORLD: HISTORY, MODERNITY, AND FUTURE PROSPECTS”, OCTOBER 23, 2025 165 following: Lack of time required to develop some project assignments. The existing main types of project tasks that require a lot of time for their high-quality preparation. Sometimes it happens that students cannot find the necessary sites, so it is very important for the teacher, before giving students a particular task, to search for the necessary information on the Internet, to indicate the addresses of the sites to the students. Modern linguists believe that one of the possibilities for the development of communicative competence, students can perform various types of tasks grouped under one heading and linked to one topic (not grammatical). Such tasks require active intellectual input from students and are perceived by them as part of the text and part of the topic. And this is a significant difference from grammatical exercises, which consist of disparate phrases and are not connected by a common conversational topic. The use of color, graphics, and sound of modern video equipment allows you to simulate various environmental situations. The computer allows you to create a set of test tasks, independent and control works in a more convenient form. Using a computer gives you the opportunity to share your knowledge with others, increases independence, increases the level of communication and culture. Listening texts posted on websites allow you to create the necessary conditions in the lesson for practicing listening to texts. Flash games and cartoons help to create a playful atmosphere in the classroom. To fill in the gaps in knowledge, students do various types of exercises on the sites, as well as use digital educational resources. Communication tasks allow you to practice those skills and abilities that students will then be able to apply in real life. In modern textbooks, each section has tasks that have a communicative orientation and allow students to engage in oral interaction. And, of course, the teacher should in no case neglect such tasks, limiting himself only to reading and the translation of texts or the performance of grammatical tasks. The new paradigm of Education puts in the first place not only the knowledge, skills and abilities of the child, but also his personality, development as a citizen through education. Traditional teaching is the organization, management and control of the process of ready-made, new learning technology for students. New learning technology — a way to implement the content of training established in the curriculum, revealing the form, methods and means of training to ensure the effective achievement of the specified goal. Thus, it can be concluded that the teacher should not reject all the good things that are in the audio-linguistic, in a structural, communicative or some other method in favor of only one of them. The teacher should be flexible in choosing the method, and often the students themselves, their needs, and problems in learning the language can help the teacher make the right choice of method for working with a particular group at a particular stage of English language learning. The effectiveness of the above-mentioned techniques and teaching methods depends on their systematic use. Students who systematically work with computer training programs, engage in project activities, have improved their knowledge quality. I have achieved some success during my work. The conducted research of pedagogical work in this area has shown that teaching foreign languages today is impossible without an innovative component. It is in our power to ensure that our students do not lose the desire and ability to self-knowledge and selfexpression. And may we have wisdom, tolerance, professionalism and love in this.
