ZeroPM removal workshop: The Biosolids Observatory : an efficient tool to improve knowledge on Biosolids composition

THE BIOSOLIDS OBSERVATORY PROJECT ZERO PM WORKSHOP EFAR : SUSTAINABLE FERTILISERS SPECIALISTS EFAR (European Federation for Agricultural Recycling) is a non profit association representing european companies specialised in the treatment and land application of Biosolids and other Biodegradable waste. EFAR IN FIGURES 19 members. 8 EU countries represented. 4 million tonnes of Biosolids recovered. 130 treatment sites. 15 000 farmers in partnership with. Biosolids Observatory Project ●Context There is a need for recent and robust Biosolids analysis data set to feed risk assessment studies and the discussions that will inevitably arise on the contaminant topic in the event of a revision of the sludge directive. Purpose of setting up a Pan European Biosolids Observatory is to collect, package, transport and analyse representative sludge samples coming from a significant number of sewage treatment plants located in different EU countries. Biosolids Observatory Project ●Participants Public or private entities in charge of wastewater treatment or companies specialising in the treatment and recovery of Biosolids. Participants have the possibility to ask for the confidentiality of their participation in the sampling campaign. The content of the information brochure which will explain the purpose and operating conditions of the Observatory. The choice of a partnering laboratory. The sampling procedure. The results presentation report and the conditions for its publication. Biosolids Observatory Project ●Parameters tested Basic package : Nutrients, Inorganic contaminants, PAH, PFAS, PBDE, NP and NPE, Organotins, Chlorobenzenes, Chorophenols, Pharmaceuticals. Additional package 1: Bisphenols, PCB, Miscellaneous compounds (31) mostly used as solvents. Additional package 2: Phthalates, Dioxins and Furans, PCN, Siloxanes, Chloroalkanes.
