The development of a child’s speech is closely connected with their thinking ability, communication culture, and understanding of the surrounding environment. Therefore, one of the main tasks of the educator is to teach children to think freely and to express their ideas clearly, logically, and fluently during speech development activities. This study analyzes effective methods for developing independent thinking in 6–7-year-old children — such as conversation, question-andanswer sessions, role-playing, visual tasks, and creative storytelling. It also highlights the importance of taking into account each child’s individual characteristics, encouraging them, and creating a creative atmosphere during the learning process. The aim of the research is to identify the most effective ways to develop independent thinking through speech development activities and to develop practical recommendations. Keywords: preschool education, children aged 6–7, speech development, independent thinking, reasoning, communication culture, vocabulary, educator, creative thinking, conversation method, question-and-answer, role play, visual tasks, creative storytelling, individual approach, encouragement, creative environment, methods, speech development, practical recommendations. To develop the speech and independent thinking skills of 6–7-year-old children, teachers can use question-and-answer activities, discussions, storytelling, games, and creative tasks. It is important to encourage children to explain their thoughts, provide arguments, share their experiences, and suggest their own solutions to different situations.
INTERNATIONALSCIENCES, EDUCATION AND NEW LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES VOLUME 2 | ISSUE 7 | 2025 https://internationalsciences.org/ | Social Sciences and Humanities | October, 2025 73 Methods for Developing Speech and Thinking Question-and-Answer and Discussions: • Open-ended questions: Encourage deeper thinking by asking open-ended questions such as “Why did this happen?” or “How could this be changed?” • Discussions: Organize small discussions on a specific topic to teach children how to defend their own opinions and listen to others’ points of view. Storytelling and Describing: • “What if…” exercises: Ask imaginative questions such as “What would happen if animals could talk?” to expand their imagination. • “Explain something” exercises: Ask children to explain something (for example, how to play a game or why something happened) to another person to strengthen their expressive and logical thinking skills. Creative and Play-Based Activities: • Games: Play games like “Who can find more words?” or “Find a word that describes something.” • Storytelling based on pictures: Ask children to describe what is happening in a picture, the emotions of the characters, and how the story might continue. • Role play: Assign roles such as doctor, teacher, or shopkeeper to observe how children understand and act in different situations. Independent Solutions: • Situational tasks: Present problem-based questions like “What would happen if you did this?” and ask children to suggest their own solutions. • Initiative: Encourage children to propose new ideas, invent their own games, or create new types of activities. Through these activities, children develop the ability to express their thoughts freely, support their opinions with reasoning, respect the views of others, and acquire the skills to solve problems independently. The organization of the educational process in accordance with the technological approach is individual and creative in nature and depends on the internal capabilities of subject teachers, as well as on the extent to which they use external factors. In order to fully reveal all the possibilities of multimedia technologies and use them effectively, learners need the support of a competent teacher. As with textbooks, when using multimedia tools, the educational strategy can be enriched in content only when the teacher is engaged in the educational process not only by presenting information, but also by assisting, supporting and guiding learners. Usually, presentations enriched with beautiful images or animations are much more attractive than plain texts and can provide the necessary emotional level, complementing the presented materials. The development of children’s coherent speech continues through the process of teaching them literacy. This process involves
INTERNATIONALSCIENCES, EDUCATION AND NEW LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES VOLUME 2 | ISSUE 7 | 2025 https://internationalsciences.org/ | Social Sciences and Humanities | October, 2025 74 developing the ability to comprehend what they hear and to express their thoughts clearly, expressively, accurately, and grammatically correctly. The main tasks in developing children’s coherent speech include enriching and activating their vocabulary, improving the grammatical structure of their speech, cultivating sound culture, forming dialogic and monologic speech, using examples of literary works, and preparing them for learning to read and write.
