It is widely recognized that the demand for acquiring proficiency in a foreign language, particularly English, is of significant importance. In this process, achieving a high level of proficiency in speech activities such as reading, writing, listening comprehension, and speaking yields favorable outcomes in the language learning journey. This article discusses efficient strategies for language instruction. Keywords: mnemonic techniques, interactive learning games, reading authentic materials, collaborative learning. INTRODUCTION Learning English as a foreign language has become increasingly important in our globalized world. Various methods have been developed to enhance the effectiveness of English language acquisition. This article explores several innovative techniques and approaches that have proven effective in teaching English, integrating findings from recent studies. The terms “method”, “methodology”, and “technology” represent fundamental concepts in English language teaching. Various approaches exist to articulate their essence, leading to ongoing discussions among experts in the field. A clear definition of concepts can be established through a thorough analysis of the literature and a comprehensive summary of the data. The approach to executing an action directed towards a specific educational objective establishes a distinct educational method that facilitates the attainment of the defined goal. One of the suggested approaches for teaching English today is the fundamental method. A minimum of 2-3 years of research and in-depth study of grammar is necessary. This method is primarily utilized in the education of translators, ensuring that upon completion of their studies, students can perceive the world through the perspective of a native speaker. Language is examined as a genuine and comprehensive medium of communication grounded in this understanding. The fundamental method continues to serve its original purpose; however, numerous alternative methods have emerged in the competitive landscape alongside it. The most important factor in the process of learning a language is the accuracy of the content being conveyed Results and discussion Mnemonic Techniques One effective method for vocabulary acquisition is the Mnemonic Keyword Method. This technique involves associating new vocabulary with familiar words or images, which aids in recall. A study by Wyra et al. [1] demonstrated that training students in bidirectional retrieval using the keyword method significantly improved their ability to recall word-meaning pairs. The ability to create mental images was also found to enhance recall performance, highlighting the importance of cognitive strategies in language learning. Kurniani et al. [2] developed a fishing game designed to help kindergarten students learn vocabulary related to alphabets and numbers. The study found that such interactive media not only made learning enjoyable but also facilitated better retention of vocabulary among young learners. Reading Authentic Materials Reading authentic materials, such as newspaper articles, can motivate students and improve their language skills. Singatullova et al. [3] emphasized the effectiveness of using authentic texts to enhance reading comprehension and intercultural competence among students with non-linguistic majors. The study showed that engaging with real-world materials increased students' motivation to learn English, suggesting that exposure to authentic language use is beneficial. Collaborative Learning Collaborative learning has been shown to positively impact language proficiency and self-efficacy. Florhaida Pamatmat [4] investigated the effects of collaborative learning on Korean students learning English in the Philippines. The study revealed that after participating in collaborative activities, students exhibited significant improvements in their oral proficiency and confidence in using English. Project-Based Learning Project-based learning, particularly through drama, has also been identified as an effective method for enhancing speaking skills. Sirisrimangkorn [5] found that EFL learners who engaged in dramabased projects showed marked improvements in their speaking abilities. This method not only promotes language skills but also fosters creativity and teamwork among students. Technological Integration The integration of technology in language learning has opened new avenues for effective teaching. For instance, Liu et al. [6] explored the use of a Student Response System (SRS) in a flipped classroom setting. The findings indicated that the SRS increased student motivation and engagement, although it did not significantly improve grammar learning outcomes. This suggests that while technology can enhance the learning experience, its implementation must be carefully considered. Music as a Learning Tool Music has been recognized as a powerful tool for language learning. Linh et al. [7] highlighted the benefits of using music to improve pronunciation and listening skills. The rhythmic and melodic elements of songs can make language learning more enjoyable and memorable, facilitating better retention of vocabulary and structures. Digital Storytelling Digital storytelling combines various media to enhance vocabulary acquisition. Research by Ohoud Ali et al. [8] indicated that digital storytelling effectively improves vocabulary skills by integrating text, audio, and visuals. This method not only supports language learning but also engages students in a creative process that enhances their motivation. Subtitled Films The use of films with English subtitles has been shown to aid vocabulary mastery. Nurfauziah et al. [9] found that students who watched films with English subtitles were more motivated and better able to understand and retain vocabulary. This method provides a contextualized learning experience that can significantly enhance comprehension and language skills. Live Worksheets ISSN: 2582-4686 SJIF 2021-3.261,SJIF 20222.889, 2024-6.875 ResearchBib IF: 9.948 / 2024 VOLUME-5, ISSUE-11 383 Recent studies have also explored the effectiveness of interactive online tools like Liveworksheets for vocabulary learning. Sabaru et al. [10] reported significant improvements in students' vocabulary after using this platform, indicating that interactive digital resources can effectively engage learners and enhance their language skills. Conclusion The effective use of foreign methods in learning English encompasses a variety of innovative techniques, from mnemonic devices and interactive games to the integration of technology and authentic materials. By employing these diverse strategies, educators can create a more engaging and effective language learning environment that caters to the needs of different learners. As the landscape of language education continues to evolve, it is essential to remain open to new methods and approaches that can enhance the learning experience. REFERENCES: 1.
