Particle physics - within a collaboration, data and analysis software are freely available - with the CERN Open Data Portal, first data sets of large, international experiments are made available outside the collaborations FAIR data in the PUNCH communities 3 Hadrone & nuclear physics - similar to particle physics for large experiments such as ALICE (@ CERN) - future experiments and facilities such as FAIR @ GSI consider open data and software from the beginning Lattice QCD - metadata is openly available - access to data is restricted to members of the community - community specific standards for data and metadata are established Astroparticle physics - lower data levels and software packages are available within collaborations - final data products are often available - open data resporsitories of projects exists, such as KCDC - moving towards open source software Astrophysics - data is often accessible in a reusable data format (FITS) - standards are being discussed and established on international level (IVOA) - simulations in astrophysics are falling behind A simplified description Image Credits: IceCube Collaboration 15.09.2025 A national federated Science Data Platform for FAIR fundamental physics research

Back-up information on the use case 9 The description is available (under PUNCH-AAI) via: https://gitlab-p4n.aip.de/punch/usecase_demonstrators/hep_higgsto4l_punch/ including all necessary files to run the workflow on REANA. Several levels of complexity are available. Data: - CMS open data from 2010, 2011 and 2012 - ATLAS open data (this version still using educational data) from 2012, converted to nTuples => the data for this use case is stored on Storage4PUNCH and available under PUNCH-AAI (data publication in preparation) - update to ATLAS data on research level ongoing Software: - written by DESY summer students, same code applied to ATLAS and CMS data (software publication in preparation) Reproduce with REANA: REANA instance at AIP, not yet fully integrated into PUNCH-AAI (i.e. registration for PUNCH-AAI and REANA instance necessary, however using the same credentials) => for more information on REANA, visit presentation by T.
