In the modern world, technology has become an inseparable part of education, especially in linguistics. The way students learn languages has dramatically changed with the help of digital tools and online systems. Nowadays, even a simple modern device connects millions of learners to global language resources within seconds. From mobile applications to virtual classrooms, technology has made learning languages more accessible, flexible, and sometimes even hilariously engaging. Because it gives students freedom, enables personalised learning through adaptive resources, offers a wealth of resources, and fosters autonomy and self-motivation, self-study is essential for learning English through technology. By allowing people to study at their own pace, concentrate on their particular areas of weakness, and locate materials that align with their interests, this strategy makes learning more effective and efficient than depending only on conventional techniques. According to the British Council 2023, about 82% of English learners believe that using online platforms such as Duolingo and BBC learning English makes studying faster and more enjoyable. Similarly, Cambridge English (2024) found that students who spend at least 30 minutes a day in digital learning improve their listening and speaking skills 25% faster than those who rely only on traditional methods. This clearly shows that technology is not only supportive but also essential in today's linguistic education. 457 Vol. 5, No. 11 – Special Issue (EJAR) ISSN: 2181-2020 LPTIENP International Scientific-Practice Conference on “Linguistics and Pedagogical Technologies: International Experience and National Practice” Denau, November 20, 2025 in-academy.uz/index.php/ejar Furthermore, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and digital file-sharing systems have brought a revolution to language studies. Learners can instantly access dictionaries, academic articles, and pronunciation guides by simply typing a keyword. Teachers and students can share materials easily through Google Drive or other digital platforms in order to make collaboration more interactive and social. As noted in the Education Technology Research Journal (2024), online collaboration improves engagement and motivation among language learners by up to 40%. Comparing the past with today, learning English without technological devices was a much more traditional and time-consuming process. Students primarily relied on textbooks, dictionaries, and classroom instruction. Listening practice depended on radio programs or language labs, and speaking skills were mostly developed through face-to-face conversations with teachers and classmates. Reading and writing exercises required a lot of manual effort, and getting feedback was slower because it often came from teachers in person or handwritten corrections. Access to authentic English materials, such as newspapers, magazines, or films, was limited and sometimes expensive. In general, learning English without technology requires more patience, discipline, and creativity from students to practice the language effectively. The significance of using technology for independent study belongs to the following features: Resource accessibility: Students can design their own learning path thanks to technology's instant access to a wide range of educational resources, including online dictionaries, podcasts, articles, e-books, and video content. Personalised learning allows students to concentrate on their individual needs and study at their own pace. Numerous programs and applications offer instant feedback, assisting students in recognising and improving their areas of weakness. Flexibility and autonomy: Self-study allows students to integrate English practice into hectic schedules by giving them the option to decide when and where they learn. Increased motivation and a feeling of control over the learning process might result from this autonomy. Active learning: With the use of technology, students become active participants who can select their own resources and methods rather than passive users of knowledge. A more profound and engaging experience with the language is fostered by this active role. Cost-effectiveness: Since self-study using technology can cut or eliminate expenses related to tuition, textbooks, and other conventional resources, it is frequently a more economical method of learning. Development of skills: Self-study fosters critical abilities like self-control and a lifelong learning mentality, which are necessary for adjusting to a world that is changing quickly. English language learners' motivation can be greatly increased by technology. Virtual reality simulation, gamified language learning apps (like Duolingo), and interactive language learning platforms are examples of interactive tools that can make language learning more fun and engaging while also encouraging learner autonomy and self-reliance. Continuous Professional Development and Collaboration: To integrate technology and education, educators should engage with their peers to share their experiences on a regular basis. They should also stay up to date on the latest developments and breakthroughs in the field of education, which they can accomplish by interacting with subject-matter experts. This collaborative approach will ultimately result in the equitable and efficient use of technology in education. Institutional Support and Infrastructure: Policymakers and institutions have a major role in establishing the institutional and financial foundations needed for technology integration in language programs. 458 Vol. 5, No. 11 – Special Issue (EJAR) ISSN: 2181-2020 LPTIENP International Scientific-Practice Conference on “Linguistics and Pedagogical Technologies: International Experience and National Practice” Denau, November 20, 2025 in-academy.uz/index.php/ejar Measurable Objectives and Adaptive Strategies: Policymakers and educational institutions should be at the forefront of developing robust and practical plans for integrating technology and education. They should set clear objectives and strategies for evaluating success and failure. Students will eventually find digital learning more accessible and effective if teachers have access to training programs, workshops, and technical support. In order to prepare our next generation of learners, we have modernised our teaching methods as technology plays an increasingly important role. Establishment of Collaborative Spaces and Support Systems: To solve issues and work towards a shared objective, educators, technological experts, and legislators should establish avenues for communication and collaboration. Additionally, schools should develop blended learning programs that incorporate technology-based training with in-person instruction both inside and outside of the classroom, as well as provide continuous technical assistance to handle any issues that may come up.
