WHY? Ensure the full exploitation of societal investments in scientific projects, e.g. reuse of data (open data) and making scientific results available (open access) Ensure transparency and credibility through open access to research data and publications Increase value creation in relation to society, e.g. through innovative use of research results Increase citizen involvement and thereby create visibility, understanding and thereby acceptance of research results, among other things to avoid the emergence of 'alternative facts' Ensure accountability and reproducibility (compliance with the Code of Conduct) As open as possible, as "protected"/closed as necessary november 2025
HOW? Culture Policy The Danish research infrastructure landscape Case: Governance november 2025
Building resilience and digital sovereignty within research infrastructures november 2025 International community based initiatives, pointing towards need for non-for-profit infrastructures •SCOSS - Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (2017) •(FrenchJussieu Call for Open Science & Bibliodiversity (2018) •CoARA –Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (2022) •POSI –Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructure (2023) •Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information (2024) Need for support + investment in sustainable non-for-profit infrastructures promoting Digital Soveriegnty og FAIR data.
Tracking technologies in research –aggregation and misuse of usage data november 2025 DFG (2021): Datentracking in der Wissenschaft: Aggregation und Verwendung bzw. Verkauf von Nutzungsdaten durch Wissenschaftsverlage, doi: 10.5281/zenodo.5937995 •Focus and concern around AAI (authentification -and access identification) like e.g. RA21 or seamless access via commercial or big tech companies •Types of data mining - 3. part data through micro targeting - bid stream data/ port scanning - spyware (beyond proxy servers, VPN tunnels) •Goal of report awareness raising and broader debate in academia and to decision makers for infrastructure organisations around lock-in tecnologies
Why resilience and digital sovereignty as drivers for change? november 2025 Business intelligence and lock-in to research workflows from dominating vendors Gatti, Rupert (2020): Business Models and Market Structure within the Scholarly Communications Sector, doi: 10.24948/2020.04 https://www.digital-science.com/audience/researchers/
