lea ning s a egies. The 60-minu e hands-on session has been designed o
educa o s who wan o in use hei cou ses wi h inno a i e, discipline-speci ic e hics
lea ning me hods. Th ough c ea i e b ains o ming and collabo a i e p oblem-sol ing
(using a p oblem-based lea ning ac i i y conduc ed in small g oups), pa icipan s
walk away wi h p ac ical s a egies o in eg a ing e hics in o hei own eaching.
1 BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

In e na ional Handbook o Enginee ing E hics Educa ion (RIHEEE), a p ojec
published by SEFI’s Special In e es G oup (SIG) on E hics in 2025. The SEFIO
2025 wo kshop (which he acili a o had p e iously o e ed and honed a
con e ences a he Uni e si y o A ei o, EDUCON, and PAEE/ALE) opened wi h an
o e iew o he handbook (explaining i s s uc u e, pu pose, and con en ), hen
zoomed in on eaching me hods explo ed in he handbook o help eache s embed
e hics educa ion in un and engaging ways. Wo king in g oups, pa icipan s we e
encou aged o apply case s udies (He zog e al., 2025), p ojec - and challenge-
based lea ning (Rou he e al., 2025), a s-based app oaches (Hi e al., 2025), and
e lec i e and dialogical app oaches (Ma in e al., 2025). Teaching app oaches o
alue-sensi i e design (Gammon e al., 2025) and se ice- and humani a ian-
lea ning (Daniel e al., 2025) we e also b ie ly desc ibed, as hese a e co e ed in he
handbook.
Du ing he wo kshop, we assembled in g oups o 3-4 o a b ains o ming game
whe e pa icipan s p ac iced combining e hics concep s wi h enginee ing opics using
a ge ed ac i e lea ning pedagogies.

2 WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
The handbook consis s o six sec ions: (1) ounda ions o enginee ing e hics
educa ion, (2) in e disciplina y con ibu ions o enginee ing e hics educa ion, (3)
e hical issues in di e en enginee ing disciplines, (4) eaching me hods in
enginee ing e hics educa ion, (5) assessmen o di e en aspec s o enginee ing
e hics educa ion, and (6) acc edi a ion and enginee ing e hics educa ion.
The wo kshop ocused on applying ac i e lea ning pedagogies ( ea u ed in he
sec ion on eaching me hods) in a ious disciplines (also ea u ed in he handbook)
o enhance enginee ing e hics educa ion in p ac ice.
2.1 Ta ge audience
The wo kshop aimed o amilia ize pa icipan s wi h he handbook, p omo e i s u ili y
o educa o s, and p o ide a pla o m o unde s anding and applying concep s om
i s chap e s. Pa icipan s wo ked collabo a i ely o iden i y e hical issues and apply
chosen me hods o enginee ing modules, os e ing c i ical discussion and planning
o e hical in eg a ion. This wo kshop has been designed o educa o s wan ing o
ene gize hei class ooms wi h mo e ac i e lea ning app oaches, and o in use hei
cou se lessons and assignmen s wi h meaning ul and e hically o ien ed discussions
and ac i i ies.
