The na ional G eenland elecommunica ion company Tusass A/S is planning on expanding hei
ne wo k o subsea elecommunica ion cables. G eenland Ins i u e o Na u al Resou ces (GINR) has
been eques ed o assis wi h a ma ine su ey o o he passage be ween he capi al Nuuk and ex-
is ing s a ions in he A lan ic Ocean (Skæ gå ds u en) as well as a sho sec ion be ween Nuuk Ha -
bo o he own’s subu b Qinngo pu .
1.2. Objec i es
The main objec i e o he su ey is o es ablish a ba hyme ic da a se and ele an sea bo om
co e age o he u u e ins alla ion o he planned elecommunica ion cable ou e om he Qin-
ngo pu headland a S a HDD o he poin AC 61. To suppo he main objec i e, se e al subsidi-
a y objec i es a e needed including calib a ion, co ec ional da a, p ocessing, in e p e a ion, map

Acco ding o he ship’s logbook R/V Ta ajoq was be hed a Feede Quay and sailed om Nuuk
on he 3 d o Decembe 2022 a 10:30 (UTC +3) on a oyage o mul i beam su ey. E e y hou a
GPS posi ion was eco ded in he logbook.
A 10:00 AM e e y day he cap ain epo ed he cu en posi ion and plans o he Aasiaa Radio
au ho i ies. A snow showe was eco ded Sa u day 3 d o Decembe 2022 a 21:00 (UTC +3).
Sunday ea ly mo ning, he logbook no ices wind 6-7 m/s om SE, cloudy, +1˚ C and 1026 hPA. Po-
si ion and plans communica ed o Aasiaa Radio a 10:00. Monday o simila p ope ies, howe e
4˚ C and wind om SSE, a 13:00 local ime inished su ey awai ing moo age. A 16:30 he e was
a Man O e Boa d boa exe cise. A 17:00 wai ing a Nuuk Roads ed unloading 6 PAX, 17:10 e-
u n o Nuuk Roads ed, a 17:30 ancho ing N o Rypeø, s ill awai ing moo age.

In Sp ing 2022, when he new essel was ecei ed om p oduc ion shipya d in Spain and be o e
commencing ishe y su eys in Wes and Eas G eenland, a new dimensional con ol su ey was
conduc ed a Sø iksnes Ya d in No way and a pa ch es and GAMS maneu e nea Nuuk upon
a i al. The ins umen p o ide o GINR, Teledyne Ma ine RESON, es ablished he coo dina e
e e ence sys em o he essel and ins umen s om in o ma ion in he dimensional con ol su -
ey epo , and calcula ed he o se alues om he pa ch es and GAMS maneu e s o hei
sa is ac ion.
A e end o ishe y c uise season, he essel a i ed a Nuuk ew days be o e he cable su ey o
Tusass. The su ey eam o GINR conduc ed a pa ch es on he 30 h o No embe bu iden i ied a
ho izon al o se o c. 80 me e s in he sailing di ec ion o e a s eep slope, which was assessed as
a se e e issue be o e commencing u he su ey. In he o ice, he ins umen p o ide was con-
ac ed o iden i ica ion o he sou ce o he issue, and he GINR su ey eam independen ly
sough and es ed di e en possible sou ces o ailu es.
A lack o clock synch oniza ion be ween ins umen s was sugges ed, and a new es o e he
same s eep slope was conduc ed wi h sligh ly be e bu no exac esul s. Consequen ly, u he
es ing scena ios and calcula ions we e done in he o ice.
