ge ing deg ee; i is abou ensu ing happiness and p ospe i y.
Highe educa ional quali ica ion gi es oppo uni y o succeed in oday’s global economy.
Mode n uni e si ies p o ide hei s uden s wi h a ious p og ams aimed a p epa ing hem o
di e en economic sec o s. Highe le els o educa ional a ainmen lead o highe ea nings and
lowe s unemploymen among bo h men and women. Th ough con inuing educa ion, ca ee -

Educa ion is synonymous o inc ease in p oduc i i y along wi h knowledge and skill
enhancemen . Educa ion also plays a p ominen ole in economy as i is assumed ha i would lead
o employmen . In case o women employabili y, accessibili y, owne ship, de elopmen and
empowe men is he expec ed ou come. This inancial independency will c ea e independence in
decision-making, a g ea e au onomy o one’s being. This changed si ua ion will u he s eng hen
women’s social and economic posi ion in he amily and in he communi y.

educa ing a single man bu educa ing a gi l means educa ing he whole amily. Today, ou
go e nmen is wo king ha d o educa e mo e women and simul aneously in es ing a huge amoun
o money on gi l child so ha ha hey can be educa ed. This is because “when a woman h i es,

na ion (A jumand, 2016).

Looking a he li e acy a e o India in 2011 was 74.04%. Howe e , he e is no iceably
disc epancy in he li e acy a es o men and women. Na ion wide, he male li e acy a e is 82.14%
and Female li e acy a e is 65.46% , while he igu es in he s a e o Ke ala a e 96.11% and 91.07%
acco ding o Census o Go e nmen o India, 2011.
In he s a e o Ke ala, p o essional g oss en olmen a io in women is 79.5 bu in men, i is
only 53.2. Howe e , in he case o wo k o ce women a io is e y less han men. Ke ala has he
highes emale unemploymen a e in he coun y acco ding o a ious ounds o NSSO su eys
on employmen and unemploymen . The NSSO da a o 2011-12 indica es ha he o e all
unemploymen a e in Ke ala is 6.7 wi h a wide gende gap o 14.1 pe cen o women and 2.9
pe cen o men (Social S a is ics a a Glance, 2016). Fu he mo e, acco ding o NSSO 68 h ound

A cons an compa ison me hod using Analy ic induc ion echnique was used o analyse
causes and solu ions among p o essionally quali ied unemployed women. Pa icipan s we e asked
o comple e an open-ended ques ionnai e in ega ds o unemploymen among p o essionally
quali ied women. Ca ego y cons uc ion o esponses was based upon induc i e analysis, allowing
o he compa ison o one esponse o he p e ious one o simila i y o di e ence.
Sample
Using he snowball pu posi e sampling, he in es iga o collec ed da a om 100
p o essionally quali ied women. The sample includes six y-six women eache s, wen y-nine
women enginee s and i e women doc o s om Malappu am dis ic .

because he oles o wo k on one hand and amily on he o he a e no compa ible.
Laziness
While c oss checking he da a, he in es iga o ound people who a e no despe a e o ind
jobs e en i hey ha e some oppo uni ies. The in es iga o hinks ha a ound 1% o popula ion is
uly lazy. They a e no eady o do any wo k. The people o wo k o ce ha e no pa h o wa d. Tha

jobs in hei ield. Ne e heless, hey do no y o ind ou o he sui able jobs. These people ha e
no goal o aim. I hey ha e any aim o goal o do he job, hey will su ely be sea ching o a job.
Lack o Con idence
Almos all women ha e low sel -es eem and lack o con idence in spi e o being highly
educa ed and alen ed. Howe e , a some poin in hei li es, hey may ge a nega i e eedback o
si ua ion o unde mine hei sel -es eem and ha has con inued o a ec hei pe o mance and
success e e y day. May be he lack o con idence is di e en o each pe son. Each pe son’s
cul u al backg ound, childhood expe ience, and o he li e ci cums ances all play a ole. These

o he lack o con idence, women o en s and back in being employed. In case o women, hey

ha e less con idence han men. This could be he eason behind he low-hea ed mind o women.
