INTRODUCTION

The adop ion o Ch is iani y in England in he 6 h and 7 h cen u ies ini ia ed a as p ocess o
linguis ic ans o ma ion. Monks, missiona ies, and ansla o s b ough wi h hem he La in Bible
(Vulga e) and heological e minology, which became he linguis ic ounda ion o eligious
exp ession in English. G eek e ms en e ed he language mainly h ough La in media ion, while
Heb ew wo ds a i ed h ough biblical ansla ion and exegesis. O e ime, hese elemen s me ged
