me hodology included ield obse a ion, ci izen in e iews, and seconda y da a om RTO and municipal
eco ds. Majo conges ion poin s iden i ied we e Gandhi Chowk, Shi aji Chowk, Ka ad Road, Tasgaon
Road, Vege able Ma ke , Mayani Road, and he Bus S and. Na ow oads, lack o pa king, unplanned
ma ke s, and ising ehicle numbe s a e he key causes o conges ion. T a ic conges ion esul s in ime
and uel loss, economic damage, inc eased acciden s, and en i onmen al issues such as ai and noise
pollu ion. To mi iga e he p oblem, solu ions such as oad widening, bypass de elopmen , pa king zones,
sma a ic signals, public anspo imp o emen , and GIS-based planning ha e been sugges ed. The
s udy concludes ha sus ainable u ban de elopmen equi es ci izen pa icipa ion, mode n echnology,
and long- e m planning. Imp o ed a ic managemen in Vi a ci y will p o ide social, economic, and

conges ion. Vi a (Taluka Khanapu , Dis ic Sangli) is a majo comme cial and educa ional hub.

emains high h oughou he day. Loca ed on he ou es connec ing Ka ad, Tasgaon, Khanapu ,
and Mayani, he ci y also bea s he load o ex e nal a ic. Hence, a ic conges ion in Vi a is
no jus a local bu also a egional issue.

Vi a ci y is si ua ed in Khanapu aluka o Sangli dis ic , a 17°27’ N la i ude and 74°53’
E longi ude, wi h an ele a ion o 560 me e s abo e sea le el. The ci y lies a he junc ion o
Sangli and Sa a a dis ic s, making i comme cially signi ican . As pe he 2011 Census, Vi a
had a popula ion o 48,289, which is es ima ed o ha e inc eased o a ound 66,000 by 2025.
Su ounding illages include Dha aleshwa (eas ), Rena i (eas ), Ga di and Bhamba de (no h),
Khambale (Bha) and Ka e (sou h), Vasumbe and Ku li (eas ), Kalambi (sou hwes ), and Ne i
(wes ).
