Overview This repository includes six high-resolution images (Figure 3, Figure 6, Figure 7, Figure 10, and Figure 11) used in the associated research. These images can be zoomed in to examine triangulation mesh sizes and detailed surface features at various scales. The dataset also provides binary triangulation data files and text files containing calculated Hurst exponent and median slope values at multiple scales and geographic extents. The data files are spatially indexed to ensure a strict one-to-one correspondence between each triangle and its associated statistical values. File Descriptions 1. Images • Figure 3, Figure 6, Figure 7, Figure 10, Figure 11 High-resolution images illustrating triangulation meshes and lunar surface morphology. Zooming allows detailed inspection of mesh scale and spatial characteristics. 2. Triangulation Data (Binary Files, .bin) The binary files store triangulation mesh data for various scales covering the entire lunar surface or specific geographic subsets. Each triangle is represented by the longitude and latitude coordinates of its three vertices. • Full lunar surface at multiple scales: • tri_q5.bin — scale 𝑞𝑞= 5 • tri_q6.bin — scale 𝑞𝑞= 6 • tri_q7.bin — scale 𝑞𝑞= 7 • tri_q8.bin — scale 𝑞𝑞= 8 • Regional subsets at scale 𝑞𝑞=10: • tri_q10_-161_-72_-46_16.bin — longitude range [−161∘,−72∘], latitude range [−46∘, 16∘] Each triangle is sequentially stored as three pairs of longitude and latitude coordinates. 3. Hurst Exponent Data (Text Files, .txt) These text files contain the Hurst exponent values computed for the corresponding triangulation meshes at various scales. • Hurst exponent values corresponding to full lunar surface: • hurst_q5.txt — scale 𝑞𝑞= 5 • hurst_q6.txt — scale 𝑞𝑞= 6 • hurst_q7.txt — scale 𝑞𝑞= 7 • hurst_q8.txt — scale 𝑞𝑞= 8 • Hurst exponent values for regional subset at scale 𝑞𝑞=10: • hurst_q10_-161_-72_-46_16.txt Each value corresponds directly to one triangle in the matching .bin file. 4. Median Slope Data (Text Files, .txt) Median slope values are provided for regional subsets to complement the triangulation data and Hurst exponents. • Example at scale 𝑞𝑞=10: • BMS_q10_-161_-72_-46_16.txt — median slope values for the geographic region with longitude [−161∘,−72∘] and latitude [−46∘, 16∘] Values are ordered identically to the triangles in the corresponding .bin file. Data Correspondence and Structure • One-to-one relationship: Each triangle in a .bin file corresponds exactly to one value in the related Hurst exponent or median slope .txt file. For example, the first triangle in tri_q10_-161_72_-46_16.bin matches the first value in BMS_q10_-161_-72_-46_16.txt. • File formats: • .bin files store triangle vertices as sequential longitude-latitude pairs for three vertices per triangle. • .txt files list one numerical value per triangle in corresponding order. Usage Notes • The combined use of images and triangulation data allows multi-scale visualization and quantitative analysis of lunar surface roughness and morphology. • Maintaining the index correspondence between .bin and .txt files is essential for accurate spatial data interpretation.
