way, go away.” (51)

much. He is a man, and he has s amped on some slush, bu he will wash i o whe e he e is wa e and hen come
back inside. The e is no s ain ha will s ick o him.” (102)

and b oken condi ion when she pou ed ke osine on he body un es call by he daugh e who s opped he om
suicide as she was being com o ed, ouched and unde s ood by a iend. She ound exis ence aluable o someone,
and he lamp igni ed in he hea and hawed he da kness o nigh . Feminine esilience is clea ly e lec ed in High
Heeled shoes whe e A i a o ced by he husband o wea high heeled shoes agains he wish, a he end o s o y she
ound g ea powe in asse ing he iden i y by success ully s anding on hose high heels. “Those high heeled shoes,
as i om some g ea powe , exploded in o housands o pieces, li up like a me eo , ell somewhe e, somewhe e
we e obli e a ed.” (131)
