A a ie y o app oaches o suppo an e icien managemen o IAS ha e been ou lined,
including e ec i e da a sha ing, i e a i e collabo a ion be ween s akeholde s, as well as
scien i ic communica ion and engagemen , among o he s (Onley e al. 2025).
Speci ically o da a sha ing, se e al guidelines ha e eme ged o ensu e he accu a e
managemen and communica ion o scien i ic in o ma ion, including he FAIR (Findable,
Accessible, In e ope able, Reusable) p inciples and open science p ac ices. FAIR
adop ions a e i al o enable he in e ope abli y and eusabili y o digi al esea ch
p oduc s (Wilkinson e al. 2016), and open science enhances hei anspa ency
and eliabili y (Be am e al. 2023). In addi ion o such b oadly applicable guidelines,
speci ic ecommenda ions and s anda ds ha e eme ged o IAS esea ch and da a
managemen (G oom e al. 2017; G oom e al. 2019). Implemen ing e ec i e da a
managemen p ac ices alongside enhanced collabo a ion and communica ion be ween
s akeholde s can suppo he e idence-based managemen o IAS.

o ope a ional syne gies o he s udy and in eg a ed managemen o in asi e alien
species in I aly - a mul idisciplina y, mul i-ecosys em, and mul i- axonomic I alian p ojec
ocusing on IAS. USEi combines expe ise om scien is s s udying IAS in di e en
ecosys ems (aqua ic and e es ial) o ind syne gies ac oss di e en da a collec ion and
da a managemen me hods, ul ima ely ou lining ope a ional and echnical
ecommenda ions sui able o adop ion wi hin and beyond he p ojec .
The ecommenda ions we e d a ed based on an e alua ion o he esponses o a
na ional su ey, subsequen ly e iewed by na ional expe s o biological in asions, and
alida ed h ough SWOT analysis, i.e. semi-quan i a i e analysis o S eng hs,
Weaknesses, Oppo uni ies, and Th ea s iden i ied o each ecommenda ion (Azzu o e
al. 2025). Such ecommenda ions we e adop ed and u he expanded wi hin USEi .
Th ough his p ocess, de ailed echnical guidelines o IAS da a managemen we e
collabo a i ely de ined and inco po a ed in o he p ojec 's Da a Managemen Plan (DMP).
The DMP was published as a machine-ac ionable, open access
documen desc ibing s anda ds, schemas, and eposi o ies used o a di e se a ay o
(me a)da a, including occu ences, s able iso opes, elemen al composi ion, emo e
sensing, DNA me aba coding, ci izen science, and acous ic eleme y (Rosa i and Di Mu i
2025). O e all, USEi da a, se ices and ela ed me ada a a e published in o open-
access eposi o ies and a ailable h ough he Li eWa ch I aly Da a Po al and Me ada a
Ca alogue (Li eWa ch I aly Da a Po al 2025; Ta allo e al. 2025). All digi al esea ch
p oduc s a e assigned wi h pe sis en iden i ie s, desc ibed by clea me ada a and
en iched wi h con olled ocabula ies o enable hei in e p e a ion, euse and
in e ope a ion. In addi ion, all digi al p oduc s gene a ed and published wi hin he p ojec
a e sha ed wi hin a unique landing page ep esen ing he main access poin o USEi
esea ch ou comes as well as o communica ion ma e ial and e en s o public
engagemen s (Li eWa ch I aly 2025).
These esul s could be eadily ansla ed in o p ac ical solu ions o IAS managemen ,
showing ha he implemen a ion o communi y-sha ed FAIR p ac ices
ac oss mul idisciplina y con ex s enhances ou abili y o manage na u al esou ces
