In 1989, Kimbe le C enshaw published a “black eminis c i ique o an idisc imina ion
doc ine, eminis heo y and an i acis poli ics” and in oduced in his a icle an
in e sec ional analysis o a legal case o disc imina ion o Black women in he US.
C enshaw’s legal a gumen builds upon p e ious wo k, like bell hooks’ (1981) amous
book “Ain’ I a Woman”, in which she s a es:
“… I oiced my con ic ion ha he s uggle o end acism and he
s uggle o end sexism we e na u ally in e wined, ha o make hem
sepa a e was o deny a basic u h o ou exis ence, ha ace and
sex a e bo h immu able ace s o human iden i y.” (ibid., p. 13)

ec ea ional ac i i ies be ween g oups (Walke , 2001; K ymkowski e al., 2014; Win e

he e is also a lack o e hnic di e si y ac oss he wide en i onmen al sec o a all le els
om accessing se ices, o oppo uni ies, employmen , boa d membe ship, e c. This
is despi e Black, Asian, and E hnic g oups being open o wo king wi hin he sec o , bu
also wan ing leade ship oppo uni ies o be pa o he change wi hin communi ies
(Johal & B own, 2021).

(e.g. mig a ion) (e.g. Bo ho e al., 2022), who migh ha e less access o a ious poli ical
sys ems (e.g. elec ions) and migh ace addi ional challenges o social
accep ance/inclusion/in eg a ion, all po en ially explaining he le el o na u e and
biodi e si y p io i isa ion. Ye , ecen esea ch om i e mul icul u al ci ies in Eu ope
(Fische e al., 2018) ound ha highe alua ion o biodi e si y ich a eas p e ailed

noise pollu ion, lack o g een spaces, and high-densi y housing can make i di icul o
