This development, closely tied to the independence of Uzbekistan, has provided artists with unprecedented freedom to develop their personal styles, integrate global artistic trends with national motifs, and explore innovative techniques and materials. Contemporary artists now approach nature not merely as an external object of beauty, but as a complex system reflecting human psychology, worldview, and aesthetic values. The concept of “artistic space” has become increasingly significant, particularly in the landscape genre, where it functions as both a visual and philosophical medium. This article examines new interpretations of the concept of artistic space in contemporary Uzbek landscape art, exploring how artists create multi-layered spaces that encompass the human inner world, national identity, and global aesthetic processes. Through the interplay of color, form, texture, and digital technologies, these spatial concepts are given new conceptual and expressive depth. The study underscores the philosophical and aesthetic importance of artistic space, highlighting its role not only as a spatial representation but as an embodiment of the artist’s vision, inner condition, and aesthetic reasoning. Keywords: Uzbekistan, contemporary landscape art, artistic space, concept, color, composition, national identity, global aesthetics, digital technologies Introduction: The Essence of Artistic Space and Its Role in Art Artistic space represents a spatial and semantic system constructed within an artwork, where time, nature, and human presence interact harmoniously. The concept of artistic space reflects the unity of place and time depicted in a piece, providing the necessary context, atmosphere, and worldview that define the work’s internal coherence. Its essence lies in the logic of the composition, the artist’s perception of the world, and the intrinsic laws governing the artistic universe. In practical terms, artistic space influences the depiction of characters and events, shaping them through elements such as color, lighting, composition, and spatial arrangement. From a theoretical standpoint, scholars such as Mikhail Bakhtin and Yuri Lotman have conceptualized artistic space as a cultural and spiritual dimension. Within visual art, it transcends mere visual experience, encompassing symbolic and philosophical meanings that are perceived emotionally and intellectually by the observer. Contemporary Reinterpretations of Artistic Space in Uzbek Landscape Art Following independence, Uzbek artists have increasingly sought to harmonize depictions of national landscapes with contemporary aesthetic perspectives. The landscape genre has evolved beyond the strict confines of realism, incorporating abstract, expressive, and metaphorical approaches. In addition to traditional painting and sculpture, modern artistic movements including postmodernism, abstractionism, and conceptual art have been introduced and developed.

In the oeuvre of artists such as Bakhtiyor Nazarov, Dilmurod Akhunov, and Saodat Sodiqova, artistic space carries profound philosophical significance. Their landscapes depict natural phenomena as reflections of the human psyche, repositories of national memory, or symbols of temporal experience. Through color harmonies and compositional solutions, artists communicate their worldviews, crafting spaces that are simultaneously visual, emotional, and intellectual. In this context, artistic space becomes a philosophical domain, integrating thought, emotion, and symbolism rather than serving solely as a visual representation. Ecological and Aesthetic Harmonization Modern Uzbek landscape art increasingly emphasizes the symbolic and philosophical interpretation of nature, integrating ecological awareness. Artists have begun to focus on environmental issues, the conservation of natural resources, and the harmony between humans and their surroundings. For instance, depictions of desert expanses, dwindling water sources, and disappearing flora illustrate the effects of human activity on nature. Through these works, artistic space acquires an ecological dimension, portraying the environment not only as a source of beauty but as a vital element of life balance. Interconnection of National Identity and Modernity For contemporary Uzbek artists, national heritage remains a primary source of inspiration when constructing artistic space. Iconic elements such as the skies of Samarkand, the bricks of Bukhara, the sands of the Kyzylkum Desert, and the gardens of the Fergana Valley are reinterpreted using modern forms and color schemes. The interplay between tradition and modernity ensures continuity of artistic expression while uniting cultural memory with contemporary aesthetic sensibilities. National traditions shape the inner world of the artist, while modern techniques expand expressive possibilities through novel forms, compositions, and mediums. Consequently, today’s artists seek not to replicate national values verbatim but to reinterpret them through a contemporary artistic language. National colors, patterns, motifs, and folk compositional solutions acquire new significance within modern art. For example, the principles of traditional Uzbek miniature painting are reimagined in modern graphics using simplified forms, vibrant colors, and dynamic compositions. This process brings national art into dialogue with contemporary cultural trends, moving it beyond the confines of museum display. In the era of globalization, it is essential for artists to retain their national identity while establishing a presence in the global art arena. Many contemporary painters combine traditional motifs, ethnographic symbols, historical references, and national attire with modern techniques such as abstraction, expressionism, collage, and digital art. This approach allows for the creation of contemporary artistic concepts that preserve national identity. By doing so, artists maintain cultural heritage while asserting Uzbekistan’s unique voice in the international art community. Artistic space, therefore, functions as a creative bridge linking national values with contemporary aesthetic thought. Conclusion The examination of contemporary Uzbek landscape art reveals that the concept of artistic space has undergone a profound transformation, particularly in the post-independence era. Unlike traditional interpretations, where landscapes were primarily viewed as realistic representations of natural scenery, modern Uzbek artists approach nature as a dynamic, multi-layered system intertwined with

Artistic space is no longer confined to the depiction of physical surroundings; it embodies complex relationships between the internal emotional world of the artist, societal values, and global aesthetic discourse. This redefinition of artistic space allows artists to explore the intersections of personal and collective identity. Through the integration of national motifs—such as architectural elements, traditional textiles, historical landmarks, and folk symbolism—into contemporary compositional forms, artists preserve and reinterpret the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. At the same time, the incorporation of modern techniques, including abstraction, expressionism, conceptualism, collage, and digital media, situates their works within the global artistic arena, creating a dialogue between local traditions and universal aesthetic trends.
