Introduction •This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, spanning from its establishment in 1989 to the present. Drawing on data from IUCAA's Annual Reports, Khagol bulletin, NASA ADS, and Web of Science, the analysis examines 3,805 peer-reviewed publications that have garnered 227,280 citations, reflecting the institution's profound impact on global astrophysical research. With an institutional h-index of 181 and an average of 59.73 citations per paper •IUCAA Founded in 1988 by Prof. Jayant V. Narlikar to strengthen astronomy in Indian universities. •Objective: democratize access to advanced astronomy research facilities. •IUCAA has evolved into a globally recognized center for astrophysical excellence. •This study traces its 36-year research journey using bibliometric methods.
