With the advent of technology, this cultural tradition has been influenced in many ways. This research paper provides an in-depth study of how technology has affected folk art, folk songs, dance, language, festivals, religious traditions, and social lifestyles — highlighting both the positive and negative impacts. The main objective of this study is to analyze the preservation, dissemination, and transformation of cultural values through digital media, along with the challenges and recommendations arising from this change. Throughout history, technology has had a noticeable influence on every society. Photography, print media, radio, television, the internet, and social media have all had both positive and negative impacts on folk culture. With digital media, information has become easily accessible, cultural events are broadcast online, and modern styles are influencing traditional arts. These changes need to be understood from a research perspective. Objectives 1.To study in detail the positive and negative impacts of technology on folk culture. 2. To identify measures necessary for the preservation of folk culture. 3. To examine how digital media, online dissemination, and modern lifestyles influence traditional culture. Hypotheses 1. Technology enhances the ability to preserve folk culture. 2. Some traditional arts and customs are declining due to modern technology. Digital media can be used to increase cultural awareness. Methodology Information has been collected from primary and secondary sources such as books, journals, newspapers, websites, and reports. Folk Culture, Technology, and Its Importance Folk culture encompasses the collective cultural experience of a community — including lifestyle, traditions, folk art, songs, dance, festivals, religion, social values, dialects, and daily practices. Each of these elements represents a part of a community’s identity, which continually evolves under the influence of technology. Folk culture conveys the essence and values of a society, serving as a medium to nurture and transmit cultural heritage. Digital platforms, the internet, social media, OTT services, and mobile apps now play a crucial role in preserving, promoting, and innovating folk traditions. Students can now access online training, and museums and cultural organizations are becoming digitally accessible. Understanding these changes and formulating strategies accordingly is essential for cultural preservation. This research helps in understanding how digital media affects folk culture, protecting traditional art forms and languages, and supporting the creation of local and national cultural policies. Impact of Technology on Folk Culture Positive Impacts Cultural information is easily accessible. Preservation and promotion of traditional arts and songs have become possible. Social media and digital platforms help reach a global audience. Education and training in folk arts have become more convenient. Negative Impacts Traditional forms are losing authenticity under modern stylistic influences. Local dialects and art forms are disappearing due to technological dominance. The younger generation is showing less interest in traditional values. Social distances and isolation are increasing. Conclusion Technology has both positive and negative impacts on folk culture. Balanced use of technology is necessary for preserving traditional arts, languages, and customs. Public education, government policies, participation of local organizations, and proper use of digital tools play a vital role in cultural conservation. Recommendations Use digital media for the preservation of folk culture. Make the study of folk art, songs, and dance mandatory in schools. Organize cultural workshops through local institutions. Spread information about traditional arts through social media and online platforms. Ensure active participation of government and voluntary organizations to increase cultural awareness.
