The models a e Al man Z sco e (1968), Ohl- son (1980), Ze a (Kasilingam & Ramasunda am, 2012), Sp inga e (Aghajani & Jouzba kand, 2012; Fulme (Kasil- ingam & Ramasunda am, 2012), indexes IN01 and IN05 (Ga u o a, e al., 2017). In e ms o using Al man Z-sco e, Sulud (2014) and Hayes, Hodge, and Hughes (2010) a - gued ha he Al man Z-sco e model is he i s model o p edic ing bank up cy isk and be e han o he s, al- hough ha i s ill canno be gene alized. Me hodology This s udy is quan i a i e causali y esea ch. The e a e wo independen a iables, namely cos leade ship and di e - en ia ion s a egy, one in e ening a iable, namely p o- duc i i y, and one dependen a iable, namely bank up cy isk. The objec o he s udy is Indonesian e ail companies lis ed on he IDX o inancial s a emen s da a om Janu- a y 2014 o Decembe 2018. I means ha he analyzed da a is panel da a. Cos leade ship s a egy is measu ed by using h ee p oxies. The p oxy measu emen e e s o he concep o Balsam, Fe nando, and T ipa hy (2011) and Asdemi , Fe nando and T ipa hy (2013). Fi s , he p oxy o he cos leade ship s a egy a e 1) a io o ne sales o capi al ex- pendi u es, 2) a io o ne sales o ne book alue o land and equipmen , and 3) a io o he numbe o employees o o al asse s used o measu e labo e iciency. Howe e , in his s udy, a cos leade ship s a egy is only measu ed by using he i s and second p oxy. The hi d p oxy is no u ilized conside ing ha he numbe o employees in e ail companies is no easible o be jux aposed wi h he com- pany’s o al asse s. Mo eo e , p oxies o a di e en ia ion s a egy a e 1) a io o sales, gene al and adminis a i e expenses o ne sales, 2) a io o esea ch and de elop- men o ne sales and 3) a io o ne sales o cos o goods sold. These p oxies o he di e en ia ion s a egy a e also suppo ed by Ba ney and Hes e ly (2019) ha cus ome p e e ences a e p oduc di e en ia ion which can inc ease he olume o sales. The p oxy o bank up cy isk is measu ed by using Al man Z-Sco e (Caland o, 2007), wi h i e a iables. These a iables a e wo king capi al/ o al asse s, e ained ea nings/ o al asse s, EBIT/ o al asse s, he ma ke alue o equi y/book alue o o al liabili ies and sales / o al asse s. C i e ia ha a e used o in e p e he Z-Sco e a e a sa e zone o Z-sco e is g ea e han 2.99, dis ess zone o Z sco e is lowe han 1.81 and he g ay zone is be ween 1.81 and 2.99 (Caland o, 2007). Va iable o p oduc i i y is conside ed o be able o me- dia e be ween cos leade ship s a egy and di e en ia ion, and bank up cy isk. The p oduc i i y alue is ob ained by di iding he o al ou pu by he o al inpu . The popula ion o his s udy is all 25 companies lis ed on he IDX. Wi h ce ain conside a ions, i is no all membe s o he popula- ion a e examined. C i e ia o choosing a sample a e 1) companies a e lis ed in he IDX un il 2018, 2) companies a e engaged in he e ail subsec o , and 3) companies ha e comple e da a o analyze. Wi h hese c i e ia, 17 compa- nies a e eligible o analyze. Da a analysis used SEM (S uc u al Equa ion Model) app oach wi h sma -PLS (Pa ial Leas Squa e) so wa e. Gö z, Lieh -Gobbe s, and K a (2010) s a ed he PLS ap- p oach is app op ia e o explo a i e analysis o s uc u al equa ion models. The s ages o da a analyzed a e as ol- lows. The indica o is consid- e ed eliable i he co ela ion alue is abo e 0.60. Second, i is he inne model es . The inne model es is com- monly known as a s uc u al model es . F om 17 e ail companies s udied, he e a e 4 companies whose sales a io o capi al expendi u e dec eased om 2014 o 2018. This indica es ha an in- c ease in capi al expendi u e does no con ibu e posi- i ely o sales. Companies ha ha e inc eased e iciency a e 7 companies. This shows ha capi al expendi u e can inc ease sales. The es expe ienced luc ua ions. Compa- nies wi h luc ua ing a ios illus a e ha an inc ease in capi al expendi u e does no always make sales highe (see Appendix 1). The second p oxy o cos leade ship is he a io o sales o book alue o asse s. The highe sales a io o he book alue o ixed asse s indica es highe e iciency in he use o asse s. I can be said ha he company can use exis ing ixed asse s o in- c ease sales. Six o he companies ha e a end ha ends o all. This indica es ha he company is unable o use ixed asse s o inc ease sales. This dec ease can be caused by wo hings. Fi s , i is he inc ease in ixed asse s wi h- ou inc easing sales. Second, i is he numbe o ixed as- se s o he company ha has no changed, bu sales ha ha e dec eased. O he companies ha a e no men ioned ha e a ola ile end (see Appendix 2). This decline indica es ha he company can manage he inc ease in sales highe han he inc ease in ope a ing cos s. On he o he hand, se en companies ha e a a io wi h an upwa d end. This means ha sales g ow h is no g ea e han he g ow h in com- pany ope a ing cos s (see Appendix 3). The second p oxy used in calcula ing di e en ia ion s a egy is he a io o esea ch and de elopmen cos s o sales. The key o success o companies o be di e en om compe i o s is o p o ide high-quali y and inno a- i e goods and se ices. Thus, consume s will p o ide mo e alue and end o emembe he goods and se ices owned by he company han hose o compe i o s. To be di e en and win he ma ke , he cos s o esea ch and de elopmen will be highe . The smalle he a io shows be e condi ions. Resul s show ha i e companies ha e an up end. This means ha sales g ow h is g ea e han g ow h in esea ch and de elopmen cos s. On he o he hand, h ee companies ha e a di e en end. O he com- panies ha a e no men ioned ha e a luc ua ing end (see Appendix 4). The hi d p oxy o a di e en ia ion s a egy is he sales a io o he cos o goods sold. The success o a company adop ing a di e en ia ion s a egy is measu ed by i s abil- i y o de e mine a highe p ice. The p ices will no be a p oblem o consume s because he company is unique in e ms o goods and se ices p oduced. Resul s show ha only ou companies ha e pe o med. This indica es ha he company can con ol he inc ease in sales abo e he inc ease in he cos o goods. On he o he hand, i e companies expe ience he opposi e. The a io o sales o he cos o goods has dec eased. G ow h in basic p ices is g ea e han sales g ow h (see Appendix 5). In his s udy, bank up cy isk is calcula ed using he Al man Z-Sco e app oach. The Sco e o mula consis s o se e al a ios, namely wo king capi al o o al asse s, e ained ea nings o o al asse s, ope a ing income o o al asse s, equi y ma ke alue o o al deb and sales o o al asse s. Each a io is hen mul iplied by a p ede e mined cons an . I can be seen ha no all companies a e in a sa e posi ion in 2018. Th ee companies ha e alue Z < 1.81. Besides, h ee companies a e in a ulne able o g ay a ea posi ion. The Z-sco e o he h ee companies is be ween 1.81 and 2.99. I means ha he e a e six o se en een e ail companies a e no in sa e pe o mance (see Appendix 7). 3.2. Tes ing o ou e and inne model The da a analysis me hod in his s udy is SEM, wi h he so wa e used is sma -PLS. The esul o he ull model can be seen in Figu e 2. The esul o he model in Figu e 2 can be used as ou e and inne model es s as ollows. The e a e h ee c i e ia used o es he ou e o a model.
