The high ankings o liquidi y and sol ency (84, I%) and g ow h (68,20/o) as p ima y goals we e no expec ed because hey do no seem o mee he equi emen s o au onomous goals. Ques ion 3, e e ing o maximizing he ma ke p ice pe sha e - a possible pa ame e o he weal h maximiza ion goal - was lis ed by only 31,80/o o he execu i es as a p ima y goal. A possible eason o his low sco e may be a misunde - s anding o di e en in e p e a ion o he meaning o he concep o weal h maximiza ion. Compa ing he Sou h A ican da a on he i s se en ques ions wi h hose o he Edmonds and Hand su ey, a o ally di e en anking o p ima y objec i es is ound, pa icula ly on maximizing ma ke p ice pe sha e, social esponsibili y and a good company image. In he Edmonds and Hand su ey, ob- jec i es such as maximizing he ma ke p ice pe sha e (67%), social esponsibili y (73,30Jo), a good company image (72,30/o ), p o i maximiza ion (83, 70Jo ), a e o e u n maximiza ion (95, 70/o) and con inui y (84,20Jo ), we e all lis ed as p ima y d i ing o ces o he i m. The only excep ion was maximum u no e -only 18,70Jo deemed sales maximiza ion a p ima y goal.
