This article is dedicated to the importance and application of gamification in education. The concept of gamification is explained based on the definition by James H. Willig, and its integration to increase engagement in the learning process, stimulate student activity, and competency-based education is analyzed. The practical application of gamification is demonstrated with examples through various apps (Duolingo, Kahoot, Fitocracy, Bamboozle). In conclusion, gamification is an important tool for increasing effectiveness in modern education. Keywords: Gamification, education, learning Process, competency-Based Education It is important to remember that one of the best tools for keeping pupils' attention is gamification. Everyone naturally wants to succeed or compete with others, as is common knowledge. People also desire to discover how to gauge their strength or increase their skills. Games feature structured, rule-based play, are competitive, and are won-oriented. Serious games serve a dual objective of imparting knowledge and continuing to be enjoyable or engaging while simultaneously addressing a larger scientific or societal problem. What is gamification, then? According to James H. Willig, gamification is a design strategy. To facilitate the completion of learning objectives and raise learner engagement, gamification is the implementation of game design principles in any nongame situation, such as a learning activity or course. For instance, by allowing students to participate in the learning process, game design components like scoreboards or badges (physical or virtual) can serve to provide visual markers of learner progress or to reward achievement. According to healthnews.com, the idea behind game-based learning instruction is to apply methods like Points, Badges, Levels, and Leaderboards in order to incorporate elements of motivation and enhance learning. Gamification has been utilized in combination with competency-based training, and according to Basiyr Rodney, it has great promise for competencies-based education that is focused on a learner-centered and outcome-based approach. Additionally, according to edglossary.org, competency-based learning refers to systems of instruction, assessment, grading, and academic reporting based on students proving they have
INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE “INTEGRATION OF MODERN LINGUISTICS WITH SCIENCE, EDUCATION, AND PRACTICE IN THE PROCESS OF GLOBALIZATION: NEW APPROACHES, OPPORTUNITIES, AND CHALLENGES”, DECEMBER 4, 2025 567 acquired the knowledge and skills they are expected to acquire as they advance through their education. Both previously mentioned ideas suggest a method and results that are focused on the students. Every concept and technology exist for the benefit of education, and as globalization progresses, certain aspects influence how successful education may be made to be. According to Jenni M., the trend of gamifying education and learning has been growing as a result of technological advancements enabling more digitalized learning environments as well as the use of technical possibilities developed in relation to video games to create immersive and engaging learning experiences. Here are some gamified applications that are also extensively used as gamification in education grows. Apps that use gamification are revolutionizing remote team communication, team building, and corporate education. There are many advantages to gamification, and the technology provided by mobile apps makes it simple to gamify virtually anything to aid learners in a more fun and engaging manner. The most popular apps include Kahoot, Socrative, Fitocracy, Duolingo, and bamboozle. 1. Duolingo. This language study app makes learning a language fun, which encourages practice and helps to boost interest. People "win" when they perform better at the various chores and accomplishments, and they also "learn" a new language in the process. 2.Fitocracy.This fitness software motivates you to get moving and visit the gym by paying you when you reach your objectives. Also, you don't have to wait till you reach significant milestones because this app will give you rewards for simply going to the gym every day. It's a fantastic idea to incorporate into a corporate wellness program because it can even put users in competition with one another. 3.Kahoots. Kahoots are entertaining, interactive games that can be used by language learners to improve their English-speaking abilities. Our no-cost kahoots feature music and graphics to captivate kids and make learning engaging and fun. 4.Bamboozle. The card game Bamboozle involves taking tricks. The game consists of six rounds in which players must eliminate a panda slime. Following an elemental pattern, each player plays an elemental card in turn. The slime is defeated and the card with the point value is won by the last player to have a chance to play a card. In furtherance, gamification is a powerful and revolutionary approach in contemporary education that successfully satisfies people's natural desires for success, rivalry, and skill improvement. Teachers may greatly increase student engagement, motivation, and observable progress by incorporating game design elements—like points, badges, and leaderboards—into non-gaming environments. The analysis demonstrates that this strategy works in perfect harmony with the fundamental ideas of competency-based education, resulting in a studentcentered framework that emphasizes skill mastery and attaining observable results. The widespread use of digital tools and apps like Fitocracy, Kahoot, and Duolingo shows how well gamification can be in the real world, increasing the effectiveness, immersion, and enjoyment of learning. In the end, gamification turns out to be not merely a trend but a crucial instrument for creating an engaging, dynamic, and results-driven learning environment as education continues to change in a world that is becoming more digital and international.
