Abstract

This dataset provides detailed, ground-based measurements of tree-level dendrometric properties, positions, and modelled crowns for individual trees sampled across 65 forest inventory plots at two study sites in Québec, Canada: Parc national des Mont-Saint-Bruno and Mont-Mégantic. Please refer to the README file for a detailed description.

Data Collection & Methods • Study Location(s): Parcs nationaux des Mont-Saint-Bruno (45.5513° N, 73.3472° W) and Mont-Mégantic (45.4240° N, 71.1248° W), Québec, Canada • Time Period: • Sampling Design: The sampling was conducted according to the Canadian Airborne Biodiversity Observatory (CABO) Forest Inventory Field Survey Protocol V.2. In brief, forest inventory plots (~706 m2) were systematically distributed to span the range of conditions present within the study areas (n = 15 at Mont-Saint-Bruno and n = 50 at Mont-Mégantic). Methods Overview: We quantified the tree community defined as all individuals whose crowns extended into the general level of the canopy and those whose crowns were below the canopy but had a diameter at breast height (DBH) greater than 9 cm. Individuals were identified to species, positioned in relation to the plot center, and a suite of dendrometric properties (e.g., DBH, height) were quantified.
