Leveraging Established E-Infrastructures to Enhance Research Data Management and EOSC Integration
Abstract
Research e-infrastructures such as EUDAT, EGI, GEANT and OpenAIRE provide universal access to data and computing resources spanning multiple research domains. They operate IT infrastructures that serve as a model for the EOSC EU node, and they are closely connected to research needs via their membership organisations. Sharing services with, or offloading them to, the established e-infrastructures would reduce operational costs and complexity by, for example, enabling deduplication and standardisation. This would likely benefit research data management and accelerate the development of national data infrastructures.

EOSC Federation §Goal is to develop a ‘Web of FAIR Data and Services’ for science in Europe. §Development through +10 year process by multiple EU projects. §Building on existing and planned infrastructures to create an ecosystem of interconnected nodes. §Engaged with the research community and e-Infrastructures in cocreating and shaping the federation of nodes. §Services should be free at the point of use.
