थारू जनजाति की परंपरागत आजीविका प्रणाली और आधुनिक परिवर्तन : पश्चिमी चम्पारण जिला का एक भौगोलिक अध्ययन
Abstract
थारू जनजाति बिहार के पश्चिमी चंपारण जिले की प्रमुख अनुसूचित जनजातियों में से एक है, जो सदियों से अपनी पारंपरिक जीवनशैली, संस्कृति, कृषि-पद्धति, सामाजिक-व्यवस्था तथा प्राकृतिक संसाधनों पर आधारित आजीविका प्रणाली के लिए जानी जाती है।यह जनजाति मुख्य रूप से वन, कृषि, पशुपालन और मछली पकड़ने जैसी प्राकृतिक संसाधन-आधारित आजीविका पर निर्भर रही है। किंतु आधुनिक युग में शिक्षा, नगरीकरण, सरकारी नीतियों तथा आर्थिक विकास की प्रक्रियाओं ने थारू समाज के पारंपरिक जीवन में गहरा परिवर्तन लाया है। थारू समुदाय का जीवन प्राकृतिक पर्यावरण एवं भौगोलिक परिस्थितियों के अनुरूप ढला हुआ है। तराई क्षेत्र की जलवायु, उर्वरक मिट्टी, घने वन संसाधन, विविध जल-निकाय एवं नेपाल सीमा के भू-राजनीतिक प्रभावों ने थारू समाज के आर्थिक, सामाजिक और सांस्कृतिक ढांचे को निर्मित किया है। आधुनिक काल में शिक्षा, शहरीकरण, सरकारी योजनाएँ, तकनीकी परिवर्तन, कृषि के आधुनिकीकरण, पर्यटन विकास तथा सामुदायिक संरचना में बदलावों ने थारू जनजाति के पारंपरिक जीवन में नई चुनौतियाँ और संभावनाएँ उत्पन्न की हैं। यह शोध-पत्र पश्चिमी चंपारण जिले में थारू जनजाति की परंपरागत आजीविका प्रणाली, उसमें आए आधुनिक परिवर्तन, भौगोलिक प्रभावों तथा वर्तमान चुनौतियों का विस्तृत विश्लेषण प्रस्तुत करता है। अत: स्पष्ट है कि विकास को स्थायी एवं समग्र होना चाहिए जो मानव एवं जीवों के वर्तमान तथा भविष्य की संतुष्टि कर सके। परिवर्धनीय तत्वों के विकास को महत्व दिया जाए मानव समाज के सामाजिक-आर्थिक, राजनीतिक एवं सांस्कृतिक न्याय को विकास का महत्वपूर्ण अंग समझा जाए तथा मानव के उपयोग एवं विकास स्वरूप को पर्यावरणीय रूप से मजबूत, सामाजिक रूप से उत्तरदायी एवं कम अपव्ययी बनाना चाहिए।
