Assignment_3b: The Circumstances - Tracing the Molecular Pathway from Socio-Psychological Stress to Telomere Erosion

Moses, Kevin

Abstract

Abstract/Summary (The Articulation of Praxis) This summary uses the language of our course, Prevention Research, to frame the Assignment as a necessary step in the investigation of Health Disparities, making it attractive and contextually clear for researchers and students alike. Title: Assignment 3b: The Circumstances - Tracing the Molecular Pathway from Socio-Psychological Stress to Telomere Erosion Abstract/Summary: This guide explains Assignment_3b for the course Prevention Research: Unmasking the Molecular Cost of Inequality. In this task, you will use critical thinking and evidence-based reasoning to explore how Systemic Stress, especially psychological stress, accelerates telomere erosion and leads to Health Disparities. Your main task is to critically analyze data from Chae et al. and Ornish et al., with a focus on Figure 1 from Chae et al. You should identify and explain possible modifiable risk factors and confounding factors that affect Oxidative Stress (OS) status, which is a key process in the body. Furthermore, the assignment requests a philosophical investigation into the "Totality of the Environment(s)" (Micro-Environments) and requires students to speculate on how BioBehavioral Resilience (BBR) and specific counter-hegemonic interventions (e.g., Plant-Based Diet vs. Air Pollution-induced OS) function as mechanisms for reducing Systemic Oxidative Stress and promoting Equality. The methodology emphasizes the development of argumentative analysis, insightful commentary, and peer responses as a crucial element of collective intellectual praxis.
