THEIAXR @ UnitedXR: Bringing Extended Reality in the Cabins of Off-Highway Machinery Operators Vienna, December 1, 2025 – The European research project THEIAXR will mark its final milestone at UnitedXR, held from December 8 to December 10, 2025 in Brussels, where it will present its cutting-edge extended reality (XR) solutions designed to revolutionize the operation of off-highway machines. Visitors can experience the project’s results at EU Stand 1, where three demonstrators will highlight real-world applications in snow grooming, logistics, and construction. Making the Invisible Visible THEIAXR, funded under the Horizon Europe programme (Grant Agreement No. 101092861), has focused on improving human-machine interaction in mobile off-highway machinery. Its mission: to make the invisible visible by extending the operator’s perceptible range without compromising safety or performance. Through a human-centred, scenario-based co-design methodology, the project has worked closely with operators, trainers, and industry stakeholders to ensure practical, user-driven solutions. The XR technologies developed enhance situational awareness, reduce operator workload, and improve efficiency in challenging environments. Demonstrators at UnitedXR At UnitedXR, THEIAXR will present three demonstrators showcasing: • Snowgroomers – XR solutions to optimize visibility and control in alpine environments. • Reachstackers – Enhanced logistics operations with improved perception of blind spots and cargo handling. • Excavators – Safer and more efficient construction workflows through augmented operator awareness. These demonstrators integrate real-life industrial data and feedback from end-users, ensuring that the solutions are not only innovative but also accepted by operators in demanding off-highway scenarios. The webinar will explore: • The most pressing ethical and privacy issues in XR and AI • Insights from top researchers and innovators • Opportunities for participants to contribute questions and shape the discussion This event underscores THEIAXR’s commitment to ensuring that XR and AI technologies evolve responsibly and in alignment with societal values. A Collaborative European Effort Launched in January 2023, THEIAXR has brought together a consortium of partners across Europe, combining expertise in XR technologies, industrial machinery, and human factors. The project has actively engaged operators through workshops and co-design platforms, ensuring that the solutions address real-world needs.
