Abstract Present article explores the integration of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) into contemporary teaching practices, advocating a holistic pedagogical approach that nurtures the head, heart, and hands of learners. Drawing on philosophical, health, and governance traditions within IKS, this study illustrates how teaching with compassion and presence revitalizes education, fostering both cognitive and emotional engagement. It discusses core dimensions of this integration, including self-awareness, relational pedagogy, contextual learning, and ethical embedding, along with practical strategies and challenges. The article contributes to discourse on holistic education inspired by India’s cultural heritage, aligning with modern educational policies such as NEP 2020. Introduction Education today often faces fragmentation and stress-induced disengagement, calling for renewed methods that go beyond content delivery. The Indian Knowledge System (IKS), a vast intellectual and cultural heritage spanning philosophy, arts, health sciences like Ayurveda and Yoga, and governance, offers a complementary framework to modern science and education. Integrating IKS into teaching promotes deeper learning processes that engage learners emotionally and ethically alongside intellectually. Background: What is the Indian Knowledge System? The IKS represents an all-encompassing body of traditional knowledge, living and dynamic rather than static or in opposition to scientific inquiry. Its domains range from spiritual and physical well-being modalities to logical and ethical frameworks guiding human conduct and social governance. By fostering dialogue and complementation between ancient wisdom and contemporary knowledge, IKS helps create educational experiences rooted in cultural context and human values. 3. Literature Review: Recent Developments in IKS and Education Recent research illustrates a growing resurgence of interest in integrating IKS into India's educational landscape, especially under the auspices of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Scholars highlight IKS's role in promoting cultural heritage, contextual learning, and inclusivity (University Grants Commission, 2025; Kumar & Singh, 2021). Teacher education is being transformed to embed IKS philosophies, enhancing interdisciplinary teaching, cultural competence, and continuous professional development (Johnson, 2025). Moreover, government initiatives have institutionalized IKS divisions and promoted digital and open-access platforms for wider dissemination and engagement (Puri, 2025). Studies emphasize how IKS fosters critical thinking, sustainability, and identity among learners by connecting them with indigenous knowledge and ethical values (Course, 2025; Gupta, 2019). Challenges remain, including overcoming romanticization and ensuring authenticity, but strategic curriculum design, institutional support, and teacher training frameworks show promise in addressing these issues (Sharma, 2024; Singh & Mehta, 2025). IKS emphasizes values such as service, friendliness, nonviolence, and empathy, nurturing not only cognitive competence but holistic wellbeing. Core Dimensions of Teaching with Compassion through IKS  Inner Journey of the Teacher: Grounded in yogic traditions, self-awareness and compassion in educators form the foundation for transformative teaching. Teachers model reflective practice and emotional intelligence.  Relational Pedagogy: Learning is conceived as a dialogic, respectful journey between teacher and learner, emphasizing listening, mutual respect, and community building.  Contextual and Experiential Learning: Teaching connects students to local ecology and culture, bridging classroom knowledge with community life, fostering relevance and responsibility.  Ethics and Values Embedding: Ethics are integrated organically into curricula through narratives, reflective discourse, and lived examples rather than isolated content. 258 Stochastic Analytical Frameworks for Indian Knowledge Systems and Innovation: Future Pathways Practical Strategies for Faculty To embed IKS-based teaching elements, faculty might:  Begin with small reflective activities grounded in IKS themes.  Use local languages and culturally relevant examples along with global perspectives.  Collaborate with traditional knowledge practitioners for authentic engagement.  Employ reflective assessments such as portfolios and peer feedback.  Pursue continuing development via MOOCs and workshops. 5. Challenges and Ethical Considerations Integration must be ethical and critical to avoid romanticizing or marginalizing traditions. Pluralism and respect for traditional knowledge holders’ voices are imperative. Educators become bridges linking past and future, intellect and compassion, enriching the educational landscape. 6. Conclusion Integrating the Indian Knowledge System into teaching with compassion offers a transformative educational paradigm nurturing head, heart, and hands. It aligns with NEP 2020’s vision for holistic education, reviving ethics, relational pedagogy, and contextual learning.
