This article explores the phenomenon of clothing as a symbolic language of power and cultural influence, particularly through the lens of the image of a stately, confident woman. Drawing on data from social anthropology, gender studies, perception psychology, and fashion communication, the study analyzes how style, silhouette, color schemes, and visual rhetoric in clothing shape societal perceptions of female power, leadership, and status. Special attention is given to how clothing serves as a tool of self-identification, a means of demonstrating competence, and an instrument of influence within social structures. The research covers historical transformations of the female “power style,” contemporary trends in power dressing, as well as media and cultural effects surrounding the image of a stately woman. Throughout history, clothing has served a dual function: utilitarian and symbolic. It not only protects the body but also expresses a person’s social role, status, values, identity, and level of influence. Today, power dressing has become a global cultural phenomenon, with the style of the stately woman serving as one of the key codes of professionalism, leadership, and social success. Clothing functions as a unique form of visual discourse. It allows one to: convey status, establish distance or closeness, demonstrate authority or subordination, encode gender roles, and manage impressions. Women’s Visual Power: The Concept of “Power Style”ю Power style is the combination of posture, cut, color, and accessories that creates the image of a confident and competent individual. For a stately woman, this includes: elongated vertical lines, structured shoulders, monochromatic schemes, minimalist forms, and precise proportions. Women gradually abandoned corsets, opting for comfortable cuts, straight lines, and shorter hairstyles. A new image emerged — that of an independent and confident woman. During the era of women’s mass entry into business, the cult of the silhouette developed, characterized by broad shoulders, tailored suits, and monochromatic tones. 21st Century: Hybridity and Individuality. In the modern era, power style has become more diverse, encompassing minimalism, smart-casual, sporty elegance, and gender-neutral solutions. Psychology of the Stately Woman’s Styleю Visual Dominance Effect Perception psychology demonstrates that vertical lines enhance the sense of height and significance, structured shoulders create an impression of authority, monochromatic schemes emphasize seriousness, and confident posture reinforces perceptions of competence. The image of a stately woman evokes trust, respect, and a sense of expertise. Gender Stereotypes and Their Transformationю When women embody symbols of power, a cultural shift occurs: societal and professional perceptions of women’s roles are transformed.

A stately woman in power style is perceived as an active creator of her own role rather than as a decorative element. Power and Femininity. Contemporary culture allows for combinations such as structured suits with soft lines, minimalism with elegance, authority with emotional expressiveness. Interpretations in Different Cultures, East: elegance and restraint. West: structure and businesslike formality, Central Asia: harmony of tradition and modern power. Practical Analysis: Cases of Women Leaders. Visual strategies of politicians, entrepreneurs, actresses, and fashion designers are examined. Each uses clothing as a tool of influence. Conclusion. The clothing of a stately woman is not merely aesthetic; it constitutes a full-fledged language of power, influencing social structures, cultural norms, and perceptions of female leadership.
