6 Journal of science. Lyon №72/2025 HISTORICAL SCIENCES THE IMPORTANCE OF REFERENCE JOURNALS IN INFORMATION PROVISION IN AN INFORMATIONIZED SOCIETY Sadigova S. Azerbaijan (Baku) Baku State University Associate professor of document management department Doctor of philosophy in history https://orcid.org/ 0000-0003-4780-0163 https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17788333 Abstract Abstraction is a widespread technological process widely used in publishing, information and bibliographic activities. Let's look at the functions, structure and features of the abstract. An abstract is a secondary document consisting of a brief statement of the primary document, including the main factual information and conclusions, and is the result of analytical-synthetic processing of information. Abstraction is a condensed statement of the main content of the work. Abstraction occupies a key place in information agencies engaged in the preparation and publication of abstract journals and abstract collections. Libraries abstract documents by preparing literature indexes, abstract reviews, thematic selections. The object of abstraction is scientific articles (theoretical, experimental, methodological, descriptive, etc.), titles from books (monographs, collections of works, etc.), patent documents, deposited manuscripts. Standards, technical specifications, instructions, price lists, catalogs, reference publications (encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference manuals), information and bibliographic publications, thesauri, specialized schemes, etc. cannot be abstracted. The article analyzes abstract journals, their structure and information value and involves them in the research. Keywords: abstracting, abstract journals, informationized society, bibliographic resource, information provision. Introduction An abstract is defined as a concise and precise statement of the content of a document and consists of the main factual information and conclusions without additional interpretation or criticism by the author of the abstract. An abstract is a concise answer to the question “What exactly is stated in the original document,” while an annotation answers the question “What is the original document about?” Accordingly, the main feature of an abstract is informativeness – the ability to briefly convey the meaning of the original document [12]. The main functions of an abstract as a secondary document are as follows: 1) Informational – the abstract provides information about the document and eliminates the need to read its full text if the document is of secondary interest to the reader; 2) Search – the abstract is used for information retrieval, as well as for searching for documents and information in automated systems. The methodology of abstracting consists in the sequential implementation of operations related to the evaluation, selection, analysis and generalization of information available in the original source. The abstracting process is based on the implementation of these logical operations. One of the specific features that must be taken into account when preparing an abstract is its complete and somewhat formal dependence on the original document. In this sense, the abstract should be considered as an information model of the documents being abstracted [4;11]. Problem setting The essence of summarization is to compare and contrast new information with what has already been mastered and used in social activity. In the implementation of this task of summary publications, summarization is no different from the previous signal (bibliographic) information, which can be effective and purposeful. The process of information activity and the logical method of achieving the goal are also called summarization. Information is obtained through the logical processing of document information and is called a summary [13]. Let us illustrate our idea empirically with the summary journals in the Scientific Library of Baku State University. Thus, one of the departments operating in the library is the Department of Foreign Literature and Periodicals. The main part This department contains printed products in Western European languages, mainly in English, German, French, covering the humanitarian and technical fields, as well as summary journals covering the technical fields, and journals covering the technical fields in Azerbaijani and Russian. From 1993 to 2000, the department was suspended from receiving abstract journals due to the difficulties of the transition period. However, thanks to the initiative and close assistance of the University administration, subscription to abstract journals was restored starting from 2000. As a result, readers from all over the republic, as well as from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Georgia, Iran and other republics, who come to use these
Journal of science. Lyon №72/2025 7 journals, use these publications without much difficulty [3]. An example of such abstract journals is “Abstract Journal: 04 Biology consolidated volume / Section 04B. Virology. Microbiology.-Moscow: VINITI RAN, 2012.- No. 4.-158 p”[5]. The All-Russian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information published the collection 04. Biology, dedicated to the science of 04B. Virology. The abstract journal dedicated to microbiology was published in Moscow in 2012. 04B1. Materials related to virology are given. The 4th issue of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the UETII, dedicated to virology and microbiology, has been published since 1959. The scientific editors of the 4th issue, which is published 12 issues per year, are b.e.d. M.B. Korolyev, b.e.n. T.A. Pronina. The abstract of 135 articles related to virology is reflected in the abstract journal. At the end of the articles, an “Alphabetical Index of Authors” is given. For example, when looking at Volkov K.S. – 98, it becomes clear that in this source the abstract called “Infection and prolonged cough in children” is called like this. To facilitate the use of the source, another auxiliary device is provided - “Index of used periodicals and serials”. For example, we can show “Antibiotics and chemotherapy” 2011,56, No. 5-6.- p.31-32). Other auxiliary indicators such as “Subject index” and “Patent index” also increase the search capabilities. Other sections of the abstract journal are also compiled using this methodology. 04B2. Section is called “General microbiology”. Information on 200 sources can be obtained from this section. 04B3. The section called “Applied Microbiology” contains abstracts of 200 articles. 04B4. It is called “Medical and Hygienic Microbiology”. Here it is possible to obtain bibliographic information about 353 sources. Abstract journals dedicated to chemical science have been published [7; 8; 10]. One of them was published in 2004, issue 22 (İ, L, M, N, R1, R2, S, T, U, F). In this reference journal, dedicated to Part II of the collection, the materials are grouped in several sections [12]. 19 İ. General issues of chemical technologies. This section contains 594 reference sources. 19.L. Technology of inorganic substances and materials. This section contains 381 reference sources. 19M. To facilitate the use of sources, auxiliary indexes called “Alphabetical index of authors” and “Alphabetical index of periodical and continuing publications” have been provided. As an example of another reference journal, the Reference Collection of Scientific Research, Experimental and Design Works of the Scientific Innovation Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (for 2012) was published in 2012 by the Science Publishing House, consisting of 306 pages [1]. The periodical “Reference Collection of Scientific Research, Experimental and Design Works” was prepared using the “ETTKI” automated analytical information system of Scientific Research, Experimental and Design Works, created on the basis of scientific and technical information documents in the fund of the Scientific Innovation Center (SIC) of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The abstract collection includes scientific research, experimental and design works (SRTW) submitted to the Scientific and Technical Information Service in 2011 by institutes, departments, higher education institutions and other organizations conducting scientific research and experimental and design works. The information published in the collection is compiled in accordance with the relevant rubrics of the Scientific and Technical Information Rubricator of the Republic of Azerbaijan (STIRA) in terms of form and structure. The information on the ETSCI included in each rubric belongs to the corresponding series. The structured structure of information on each ETSCI
8 Journal of science. Lyon №72/2025 within the series is carried out in accordance with the first level of the universal hierarchical 3-level classification of knowledge areas in the State Rubricator of Scientific and Technical Information. The first level of the rubricator is given by codes from 00 to 90. ETSCI is grouped according to one rubricator. The same ETSCI can be included in several groups. In the abstract journal, their bibliographic numbers are written before the names of ETSCI, and after the “/” sign, the inventory number of their information sheet in the EIM is written. For example: 68001120042/0212Az0482 Selection of technical grape varieties for the production of high-quality wines that can meet the requirements of international standards in the Absheron soil and climatic conditions, development and improvement of production technology of various types of wines Preparation and improvement of high-quality wines that can meet the requirements of international standards in the Absheron soil and climatic conditions Head of the work: T.M. Panahov, authors: T.M. Panahov, R.A. Gadimova, Sh.A. Tahirov, T.M. Musayev. M.S. Ismayilov, B.Sh. Butayev, O.N. Aslanova Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking (Az ETUSHI), Baku, 06.03.2012, (p.85, bibliography 68, language: Azerbaijani) Technical grape varieties, perspective hybrids. Development and improvement of production technology of various types of wines meeting high standards. Research was conducted using accepted methods in winemaking. Semi-sweet wine materials were prepared from Bahrali, Shirali, Kapaz, Goy-gol hybrids cultivated in Absheron soil-climatic conditions. The prepared wine materials correspond to the requirements of the conditions. White and red table wine materials were prepared from Shirali and Goygol hybrid forms created in Ganja TS. Based on the research, it can be said that the obtained wine materials are suitable for the preparation of white and red table wines meeting high-quality conditions [1]. Novelty Dessert wine materials were prepared from 7 types of technical grape varieties grown in Absheron conditions. In the production of dessert wines, the primary fermentation process of sugars was deepened and the same type of concentrated grape juice was used to fully provide sugars. As a result, the high quality of the finished product obtained by blending was ensured by deepening the primary fermentation threshold of sugars. The fermentation limits of the juice obtained from the pressing of grapes were determined, the required amount of ethyl alcohol rectification was determined, various technological methods were selected and developed to fully ensure the physicochemical indicators and organoleptic properties of dessert wines. Low-acid ordinary white table and red sour table materials were prepared from the technical grape varieties Bayanshre, Rkasiteli, Madrasa cultivated in Absheron conditions. Low-acid ordinary white table materials were prepared according to schemes I, II, III (Moldova ETUSHI technology), red sour table materials were prepared according to schemes I, II, III. It was determined that the samples of both types of wine meet the technological requirements in terms of their physicochemical and organoleptic indicators. A production technology for low-acid table wines is being developed. Field of application - winemaking. Here: 6801120042 – is the bibliographic number. The first two digits of the ten-digit bibliographic number (in our example 68) indicate the code of the head level of the rubric, the second two digits indicate the number of the abstract collection (01), the third two digits (12) indicate the year of publication (i.e. 2012), and the last four digits indicate the serial number of the EITI in the collection (0042). 0212Az0482 – this ten-character code indicates the inventory number in the EIM fund of the EITI. After this, the title of the topic (work), the title of the report, the head of the work, the authors, the full and short name of the organization in which it was developed, the name of the city, the date of completion of the work, then the number of pages of the report, the number of bibliographic names of the literature used in the EITI and the language of the report are printed. At the end, a short abstract of the EITI is given. All ETTKI are indexed by codes and keywords of rubrics. ETTKI can belong to several rubrics. Therefore, ETTKI can be repeated in different rubrics in the rubricator. ETTKI repeated in different places of the abstract collection differ only in their bibliographic numbers. To enter the system, a list of 4 search indicators (keywords, name and code of the organization, classification of scientific fields, inventory number of the report) is given at the end of the collection. These indicators allow you to find the abstract published in the collection from various aspects of the work we are interested in. ETTKI Abstract Collection (Baku, “Elm”-2009, 436 p. Printed at the State Tax Service’s border accounting institution) [2]. Conclusion In conclusion, it should be noted that the periodical “ETTKI Abstract Collection” is prepared by means of the automated analytical information system of ETTKI, created on the basis of scientific and technical information documents in the ANAS EIM fund.
