They have expanded the opportunities for people to quickly exchange information, express opinions and communicate with each other. Through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), it has become easier to get acquainted with and share new information on a global scale. At the same time, social networks make a significant contribution to the spread of culture and knowledge, and to the discussion of various ideas and experiences. Today, the most popular social networks include networks such as Faceboo, Instagram and X (Twitter). You can read the following information about them on the Internet sites. Initially intended only for students at Harvard University, it was later expanded to other universities and all educational institutions in the United States. Since 2006, it has been open to all Internet users. As of December 2022, Facebook has a global user base of 2.96 billion people, with 200 billion friendships established through the site. These social networks are the most widespread in the world and have become a major force that has been able to transfer human development, politics and spirituality, economics and business, education and upbringing into the virtual world. These networks reflect the specificity of the fragmented world, as they often bring together on one platform fragments taken from different aspects of life, but not completely connected to each other. This process corresponds to the concept of fragmentarism, since each post or content exists as a small, independent piece of information, but together they form a complex picture of global or local cultural experience. By combining these fragments, social networks serve to reflect the multifaceted, dynamic nature of the modern world, which enhances the process of rapid perception and processing of various topics in people's minds. Aphorisms originated in ancient times in the field of medicine, later they began to be widely used in such disciplines as literature, law, and politics, and had a profound impact on human thinking. As a result of the development of technologies in the 20th century, aphorisms also moved to the digital world. If earlier aphorisms were distributed through books and were mainly intended for intellectual circles, today their audience has expanded significantly. Now, people of any age have the opportunity to get acquainted with aphorisms on social networks using modern gadgets, read them, and discuss them. By becoming members of various groups through social networks, they share aphorisms on topics that interest them. The migration of aphorisms from books to digital texts is expanding their sphere of influence and allowing them to penetrate deeper into the daily life of modern people. This process contributes to the rapid and widespread spread of aphorisms, enhancing their emotional impact, and adding special meaning to people's lives. The phenomenon of aphorisms migrating to social media has been studied by various scholars and researchers. Cameroonian researcher Solange Swiri Tumasang, in her article “ Motivational Quotes on Social Media: A Rhetorical Appraisal,” discusses the migration of aphorisms to social media. According to her, the occurrence of aphorisms on social media is often due to their short and meaningful structure, emotional impact, and popularity. This process is associated with the motivational properties of aphorisms, which affect a wide audience through various rhetorical techniques. For example, metaphor, alliteration, and other rhetorical devices make aphorisms memorable and effective. Aphorisms that are shared with photos of famous people in particular attract more attention, as they are more likely to be trusted. Aphorisms on social media are short but powerful and often cover topics such as life, love, and religion. In this way, aphorisms reach a global audience through social media and motivate audiences based on social issues, personal experiences, or everyday realities. Among the scientific works devoted to the study of aphorisms, one can also include Ayu Suryaningrat's research work entitled "An Analysis of the Language Style of Najwa Zebian Motivational Quotes on Instagram". According to the author of the dissertation, the migration of aphorisms to social networks, such as Instagram, is due to several reasons. Social networks are widely used as a means of communication and socialization, and have changed the way ideas, motivations and information are disseminated. Platforms like Instagram allow users to communicate content, such as motivational quotes, in a visual and interactive way. We don’t need to be reminded that we live in a digital world of constant clicks, swipes, and likes. The short forms we encounter today come not from the hard pages of a book, but from the glow of illuminated screens: tweets, memes, GIFs. Aphorisms seem to fit this short attention span, but they ISSN: 2582-4686 SJIF 2021-3.261,SJIF 20222.889, 2024-6.875 ResearchBib IF: 9.948 / 2024 VOLUME-5, ISSUE-12 1276 are not entirely compatible with it. They can be read quickly, of course, but due to their depth of content, they interrupt our desire for instant gratification. As a summary of these studies, we can say that aphorisms have long developed as a form of short, meaningful, and powerful influence on human thinking, and they have migrated to the digital world with the development of technology. Social networks, in particular platforms such as Instagram and Twitter, serve as a convenient tool for the rapid and widespread dissemination of aphorisms. Aphorisms reach a wide audience in the modern digital world due to their short and meaningful structure, emotional impact, and popularity. Various researchers have studied the popularity of aphorisms on social media. Scholars such as Solange Swiri Tumasang, Najwa Zebian, and Victoria Turk have argued that aphorisms are easy to share because they are short, memorable, and emotionally powerful. Psychologist Gordon Pennykook's research has shown that people who find aphorisms and motivational quotes to be deeply meaningful tend to have lower cognitive functioning and a tendency toward paranormal activity. Here’s a detailed analysis of the factors influencing the occurrence of aphorisms on social net works: 1. Psychological FactorsBrevity & Cognitive Ease – Aphorisms are short, making them easy to read, understand, and remember.Emotional Impact – They often evoke strong emotions (motivation, humor, nostalgia) that encourage sharing.Relatability – Users connect with aphorisms that reflect personal experiences, beliefs, or aspirations. 2. Memetics & ViralityCatchiness & Wit – A well-crafted aphorism spreads like a meme.Humor & Sarcasm – Comedic or satirical aphorisms have higher engagement.Adaptability – Aphorisms can be easily modified or repurposed for different contexts. Conclusion The rise of aphorisms on social networks is driven by psychological engagement, social influence, technological amplification, emotional appeal, and viral potential. Their ability to convey wisdom, humor, or motivation in a concise format makes them a dominant form of digital communication.Influencing the Occurrence of Aphorisms on Social Networks. The proliferation of aphorisms on social networks is a fascinating phenomenon, driven by the inherent human desire for succinct wisdom and shareable content. While crafting a truly memorable aphorism remains an art, understanding the underlying mechanisms that govern its spread can inform strategies to increase its likelihood of circulation. This involves considering factors like emotional resonance, relatability, and the perceived authority of the source.
