Th ere is a fi rst special focus with four contributions on »Global imbalances« in the Forum section. Sebastian Dullien’s contribution is concerned with divergences in the Euro area, whereas Dorothee Bohle analyses the economic problems of Eastern European Economies, comparing Hungary and Latvia. Hansjörg Herr writes about the export-led Chinese growth strategy, the resulting current account surplus and the consequences for global economic imbalances. Th e last contribution in the Forum section, by Dimitri B. Papadimitriou, focuses on the US as the most important country with a current account defi cit and the strategic perspectives of correcting global economic imbalances. Th e second special focus in this issue is comprised of three contributions in the section Articles, dealing with monetary policy, more precisely with the topic »Infl ation targeting: Is there a credible alternative?«. Th is special issue has been edited by three guest editors: Giuseppe Fontana (University of Leeds, UK, and University of Sannio, Italy), Mark Hayes (University of Cambridge, UK) and Jonathan Perraton (University of Sheffi eld, UK). In the fi rst article, Angel Asensio and Mark Hayes try to design a Post Keynesian alternative to infl ation targeting. Malcom Sawyer studies the linkages between interest rates and infl ation. Finally, the article by Geoff Tily deals with an interpretation of Keynes’s »General Th eory« and the links between investment and infl ation therein. Th e contributions to this special issue were presented at the Spring Seminar of the Post Keynesian Economics Study Group (PKSG) held at Balliol College in Oxford (UK) in April 2008. We would like to thank Giuseppe Fontana, Mark Hayes and Jonathan Perraton for editing the special issue in the Articles section. Die 4Editorial We would like to thank as well Christoph Sauer, one of the founding members of the journal who left the group of editors, for the good cooperation over the past years.
