Computer Music and Digital Media Art Through a Web-Based Collaborative Interface
Abstract
A dissertação apresentada é resultado de uma investigação em interfaces colaborativas usando tecnologias web, feita no contexto do Braga Media Arts. Como resultado é apresentado um ambiente audiovisual em rede como desenvolvimento prático, o Akson. O Akson foi inicialmente concebido como uma exploração do que poderia ser construído aproveitando a infraestrutura global da Internet, bem como a reprodução musical e visual em vários dispositivos. Este sistema foi feito pensando em seu uso em performance ao vivo e é capaz de interagir com os dispositivos do público.

and esea ch cen e s in he ield o obo ics, games, mul imedia and media a s. Simul aneously a
cul u al ecosys em has gained o m and exp ession, de ining i sel in a con empo a y and ansdis-
ciplina y iden i y, si ua ed in he in e sec ion be ween new media and o mal a is ic exp essions.
The use o echnologies in a is ic p ac ice has led many p ojec s o anspo B aga o a dimension
o in e na ional ecogni ion.
This esea ch was done wi h a close ela ionship wi h i s educa ional se ice, explo ing he

A Google’s open sou ce high-pe o mance JS and WebAssembly engine, w i en in C++ (G ay,
2009). node.js lib a ies we e managed h ough npm5(Wi e n, Su e & Rajagopalan, 2016), s a ic

2013; Wyse & Sub amanian, 2013) and he WebGL API (Pa isi, 2012; Ma ion & Jomie , 2012).

3.4 G aphics Engine
The g aphics sys em is buil om WebGL (sec ion 3.2), an API used o c ea e 3D g aphics in a
Web b owse . Based on OpenGL ES 2.0, WebGL uses he OpenGL shading language, GLSL, and
o e s he amilia i y o he s anda d OpenGL API (Angel & Sh eine , 2011). Because i uns in
he HTML5 Can as elemen , WebGL has ull in eg a ion wi h all DOM in e aces (Anyu u, 2012).
Akson has ou echnically a anged scenes as objec s. They ha e mul iple AV p ope ies
