Introduction In the context of this report, the process of our video project will be explained in more detail. The project consists of 3 different topics, each of which will receive its own video series with its own intros and different content, which will be uploaded to the Youtube platform at regular intervals. The videos refer to each other, are linked and contain a common thread throughout the entire video series. The three areas are 1) Personal 2) Academic 3) Professional. In the first section (Personal), everything that is happening in the context of private life in Barcelona is discussed. Some videos we have in the pipeline and others which we already shot and post-produced are "A day in Barcelona with only 10 euros" or "How to get a monthly ticket for public transport" which belong to the first area (personal). The second area academic includes everything within the University of UPC. In this video series, viewers can expect videos like "Differences between your home university and UPC" in which we interview some international Erasmus students from different countries around the world and let them compare their home university with UPC. And the last section professional focuses on life after graduation at UPC, the job market, job prospects. For this we have already conducted an interview with a former UPC student. All these videos have the main goal to prepare future Erasmus students for studying and living here and to give them the opportunity to get an insight before or during their time here. The videos serve as a kind of tutorial, guide and of course entertainment and visualization of life here.
Idea and following steps Let us step-by-step look at the process of creating videos. Our team consist of 3 members. Each of us is responsible for 1 area of our video project: Personal, Academic, Professional. From the beginning of the project, our team had weekly meetings where we discussed the details of each video we were going to record. Brainstorming was the first and the most important step of our project. Although each of us was responsible for a different part of the video, ideas were generated by all of us in the first stage. At this stage of the work, it was important to decide which media we were going to use to present our videos. We decided to use youtube as a medium for representing our videos. Youtube will let us upload not only short but also longer videos. The next question that was important for generating the idea was about our target group. The aim of our videos is to help students adapt more easily in Barcelona and reduce stress at the beginning of the semester. It was therefore important for us to make a videos that would be interesting and engaging for the young target group. At this stage it was also essential to decide whether we would have 1 long video for each of our video areas or multiple ones. At the end we have decided to shoot several videos, because it will make it easy for viewers to find the videos they are interested in. In addition, short videos are easier to watch and and viralise on Youtube. We decided to be more flexible about the length of the videos and choose individually how long each video would be. This allowed us to focus more on the content of the videos rather than their length. After brainstorming, we collect all the ideas and choose the most appropriate one for our topic and technical possibilities. Each video according to its area has introduction part. This will allow viewers to know directly which area will be in that particular video. The next step in our video process was writing scripts and shooting schedules. Since we are conducting several interviews with different students and university representatives, it was important for us to have a schedule for our filming.
In order to attract as many students as possible to our project, we created a template for an email newsletter. Students who were willing to support our project had the opportunity to contact us via email or QR code, which led them to the Telegram channel to get in touch with us. It was also essential for us to involve as many students as possible, also in order to raise awareness about the project we are doing. After the shoot, which was mostly done in pairs, we saved all the records for later editing. We used different software for the editing, such as Adobe Premier Pro, Davinci resolve. For Introduction part we used also Adobe After Effects. After editing each video, they are ready to be published on Youtube. In the description under the videos we also give further information that might be useful for our viewers, e.g. places we have mentioned in our videos, linkes for bookings or contact dates etc. If there
are comments under the video, we will answer them and try to give all the available information we have. This videos will not only be useful for students who have decided to study in Barcelona, but also for those who are still in the decision-making phase and have not yet decided on a country or university for their semester abroad. Technical Aspect During the project, we used the following equipment. Camera – Sony Alpha 6000 Ton – Balila wireless microphone system Memory card -San Disk Extreme 64GB Virtual storage - Sciebo Tripod – Standart Kit Lende 16-50mm Software - Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe After Effects, Davinci resolve Since we wanted to show more scenes in Barcelona and UPC University, most of our shooting was outside. In this case, we used the natural light.
