TESINA Título MODELIZACION HIDROLOGICA DISTRIBUIDA CON UN ESQUEMA EN VOLUMENES FINITOS. VALIDACION DEL METODO. CODIGO: 711-TES-CA-6355 Autor CARLOS DIONISIO BAREA Tutor ERNEST BLADE CASTELLET Departamento ING. HIDRAULICA, MARITIMA Y AMBIENTAL Intensificación HIDROLOGIA E HIDRAULICA Fecha FEBRERO 2015
Distributed hydrological modeling with a Finite Volume Scheme. Validation . Method Validation. Author: Carlos Dionisio Barea Advisor: Ernest Bladé Castellet Nowadays there are a lot of hydrological process models such as rainfall events, runoff, losses, etc. In many cases, due to the lack of real data, these models are the basic tool for generating action plans, risk maps, hazard maps, etc. These models are generally aggregated models, that don’t care of the events that take place within a basin, and offer only one hydrograph at the discharge point. In the best cases, the models work with simplifications of Saint-Venant equations. Iber model is a distributed model for hydraulic calculations, where each element gets a flow and a velocity for each time. It is obtained by solving the two-dimensional SaintVenant equations. It would be interesting use a model with these features as hydrological model and thus capable of obtaining the flow behavior due to a rain event. The analysis in this study wants to verify that the finite volume scheme used by Iber also works for hydrological calculations. In addition, some parameters must be studied due to the nature of a distributed model. The friction coefficient, the type and size of meshing and threshold wet-dry are variables that appear as a product of the discretization of a continuous problem, so it must perform a sensitivity analysis of the results by varying these coefficients. Once the sensitivity studies of the different parameters have been done, a comparison is made between Iber results and the results provided by other hydrological model, in this case HEC-HMS. Keywords: Manning coefficient, mesh size, outlet hydrograph, linear model, curve number, wet-dry threshold. .
