The e is also a jou nal ocusing pa icula ly on his ield: Jou nal o Ma ke ing o Highe Educa ion. This p o ides a somewha limi ed iew o ma ke ing in he uni e si y con ex , as he uni e si y s akeholde en i onmen is pa icula ly complex (e.g. Ko le and Fox 1995;Chapleo and Simms 2010), as is ha in he wide public sec o (e.g. Wæ aas and By kje lo 2012). Legi imacy and s akeholde s’ us a e pa icula ly impo an in he public sec o (e.g., Leije hol e al. 2018). Thus, we a gue ha uni e si ies would bene i om a mo e holis ic ma ke ing app oach a ge ing all ele an s akeholde g oups and iewing uni e si ies no only as educa o s, bu also as esea ch p oduce s and pa ne s in socie al de elopmen wi h p i a e, public and hi d sec o o ganisa ions. One impo an uni e si y s akeholde g oup is alumni. Enhancing he alumni–alma ma e ela ionship is impo an because alumni may p o ide aluable eedback o he uni e si y and ac as pa ne s in educa ion ac i i ies. Alumni ypically alue a uni e si y’s quali y and image and may ac i ely con ibu e o he o ma ion o his image, hus ac ing as Bb and ambassado s^.
